CreationCon Day 3
Nov. 9th, 2008 11:59 pmToday's quote is courtesy of me, due to not being able to remember Mark Sheppard's character's name in BSG (Romo Lampkin) and trying to explain him to her (since she watched the show) and the two of us having a conversation about that type of character yesterday.
According to Jenn, I did wake up this morning and turn off my alarm at 6:30, but I remember nothing between getting into bed at about 2:30 and being woken up at 7.
We had the breakfast this morning and there were only four of us at the table - Jenn and I and a couple. After we ate, Jason Momoa and David Nykl came in and went around to the tables. We were one of the first tables to get Jason and I asked him about the tattoo on his left forearm and it's a Hawai'ian thing (and I think he said a family thing specifically - I'm not going to attempt to remember right now with how tired I am, I'm sure I'll get it wrong). And somehow we got onto talking about beers and he wants to open a microbrewery and a restaurant (he didn't say what kind of restaurant, but I'm sure something to go with the microbrews). It was fun watching David Nykl while we were waiting for him to come to our table because he's so animated when he talks (and his smile is just - guh). We got David last and the other couple talked to him most of the time because when the woman took his picture when he and Jason had first come in, there was an orb in the picture and the couple is a part of the South Jersey Paranormal Research group. So, that was neat hearing them talk about that and David's a bit of a paranormal geek too. And when it was time for us to leave, Jenn says to David, "Hug her." So I got a hug from David Nykl. :-D
So we went out into the lobby and were headed back to the room to pack up and I hear music off to one side, so I peak around the corner to look and Jason Momoa's out there with a guitar and a couple of fans, and he's playing a blues song on the guitar and chatting with Mac (one of the guy fans) and giving him a blues lesson, so Jenn and I (and a couple of other fans) hung out with Jason and his handler and talked about music. Then Jason decides he really wants to buy a guitar right then, so we figure out a place for him to go (because there really isn't anywhere in Cherry Hill, and especially not at 10am on a Sunday morning). And I think that if Jason could, he would have taken all of us with him, but Tammy (his handler) and his bodyguards (? I think - they may have just been other handlers, but they actually looked like ex-CIA/Secret Service guys) put the kabosh on that.
So *then* Jenn and I went back to our room and packed things up and hung out for a while.
David Nykl was on first at a little after 12pm. He's lots of fun and smiles a lot and is very animated. And you can definitely hear the Czech accent on certain words. And I practically overloaded my camera's memory card with vids of him.
Then there was a long break for Jason's photo ops and, concurrently, a trivia game and the final auction. (Someone bought one of the Jason banners for $1250.)
Jason's talk was fun. He's really laid back and it seems like he's become much more comfortable with doing cons. Obviously, he talked a lot about the fighting and doing stunts, since that was the way the questions were oriented. But he did talk about other things too - like how he and Joe go antiquing together. Jason also did buy a guitar and he played it a bit on stage and then auctioned it off (which was his idea) - and it got $2000. (As soon as he finished saying something to the extent of "Okay, I'm not sure how we're going to do this, but let's auction this thing off" and someone yelled out the bid and no one contested it.
After Jason's talk was David's photo op. I was surprised that I was a little jittery beforehand, because that hasn't happened to me for a long time (not even with Paul). And I mentioned that I had also graduated with a double major in theatre and english, so we had a laugh about how that made us qualified to wait tables. And then he shook my hand as I was leaving (which he was doing with everyone).
Once I was done that, Jenn and I hung out in the auditorium and chatted while we waited for the autographs to start. I let Jenn use my Jason autograph because I had gotten his two years ago, so I didn't feel like I needed another one. And it was funny because when we went into the dealers' room so she could pick out a Jason picture for me to use, she decided she was also going to have him sign the "Baywatch" picture for her. Well, when we got to Jason, he was like, "I don't sign that picture because it's from a show I don't support." So Jenn was like, "Okay, then you can sign my photo op picture. I just wanted you to sign this one because I think it's a very nice picture of you." and she produced the photo op for him and he signed it. She then starts towards David and Jason's like, "Wait a minute. It is a good picture, I just don't support the show. So, if you don't mind me taking it out, I'll sign it." Jenn shrugged and was like, "Sure," so Jason tore off the side that had "Baywatch" written on it and signed it for her and then he asked for her photo op back and wrote under his signature "Thanks again."
Jenn and I were chatting with David about names and he also did the "Yo! Adrian!" when he heard my name as he was doing Jenn's autograph. I can't remember what we talked about after Jenn left the line, but I know I didn't make a fool of myself and he shook my hand before I left (which he wasn't doing with everyone that time). I swear, afterwards, my legs were like rubber.
From there we met up with
After that, it was the end and time for me to head home. The drive home was fine. The truck started the first time and kept running (and I didn't make any stops) and it went quickly.
So, now - shower and bed. Tomorrow - pictures.

David - "Four more."
Tammy - "Two."
David - "Four."
Tammy - "I will come up there and get you."
David - *sticks out tongue* "Okay, quick, we don't have much time left."
It's like, "Damn, he's got balls."
