CreationCon 2008 Day 2
Nov. 8th, 2008 11:59 pm(Shh! It's really 1:46 am, but I wanted to get this on the right day.)
Today’s quote was from Chuck Campbell trying to get off of an unexpected double entendre.
So, after going to bed at about 3:30, I woke up this morning completely disoriented as to the time and saw that all three of us were still in bed and immediately thought, “Crap, Elissa’s going to be late, since she’s volunteering at 10.” (Figuring that my body had let me sleep the hours it needed and it was late.) So, I look at the clock and it’s 8:30 am. And it’s like, “Damn, I can’t sleep past 8:30 regardless of what I do.” (8:30 is my “sleep in time”.) And right about then, Elissa and Jenn started waking up, so the three of us relaxed for a while before getting ready for the day and when Elissa left to volunteer we went for breakfast.
After breakfast, we hung out for a while, since things didn’t really start until 12:15. Jenn and I wandered in for the tail end of the trivia contest and when the contestants didn’t get a question right, the host would let the audience guess and whoever got the answer got to pick out a prize. And I got a tshirt for answering “In what episode did Rodney find the personal shield?” (Answer: Hide and Seek)
Chuck Campbell is *so* much fun. (And he’s so adorable too!) He was telling a lot of fun stories from the Atlantis set, including the one about the pier scene from “The Shrine”. The props guys had gotten a bunch of Heineken and Joe goes, “Um, no. This isn’t going to work.” So he gets on his “Apple phone” (that’s what Chuck called it) and calls someone, who then calls someone, and the next thing Chuck knows, they’re getting a pallet of beer. Chuck’s also really good at doing impressions, like Al Pacino, Robert Deniro, Jack Nicholson, Christopher Walken, and Joe Flannigan. During his photo op, I ended up talking baseball with him because he’s a big Red Sox fan and with the Phillies winning the World Series this year....
In the break between Chuck and Kavan, they replayed last night’s SGA episode. Dude – that was a really awesome episode. It was *so* cool.
Kavan was really awesome too. And he had a goatee – which looked really good on him. He has a funny story of David Hewlett whining and Kavan calling him a loser. But I also found out that he’s done a lot of theatre work, so we got him to tell us a couple of stories about that. During his photo op, we talked about theatre and he was like, “I’ve got hundreds of stories I’ll tell you later.”
My autograph from Chuck was, “Adrian, Thanks for lending me your car!” with his name and a little smiley face. And my autograph from Kavan was, “Adrian, I got me a ton of stories.....later!”
After that, Jenn and I left to get some food. We were going to meet up with
gblvr and a couple other people for food and since they were farther back, we said we’d go get a table. Well, we couldn’t find the place, so we ended up going to a Friendly’s and along the way, we saw a Wegman’s – which brought back a lot of memories. :-P
The dessert party was fun. Jenn and I got the guys to sit between us. During Kavan’s "visit", he showed us a picture of his son – who’s 15 months, and we talked about a tiny bit more theatre.
After the party, Jenn and I were hoping to meet the guys in the bar, since they seemed open to the idea. But that didn’t happen because they were actually staying at a different hotel and left right away.
Tomorrow’s Jason Momoa and David Nykl. I’m excited.
