Well, we just closed the bar (at 1:00 am).
So I actually did get some sleep - from 5:30 to 11.
mashfanficchick, Elissa, Matt and I started off the day by going down to the restaurant to get something to eat before going to the con. Well, it took us about half an hour to get our food after we ordered, which pissed us off, since we had told them that we were in a hurry. So we ended up missing some of Jay Avocone's (Kowalski) talk. But Jay's quite funny and I did enjoy what we got to see. I didn't get a photo with him because I liked Kowalski, but I'm not a big fan.
After him there was a bit of a gap before Paul was supposed to come on, so we just hung out. And it's weird - the hallway outside the auditorium's freezing and the auditorium itself is really warm (and it's not just the people).
Paul's talk was so much fun. He's quite adorable because he loves doing this stuff and meeting the fans as we are of meeting him. He told the story of telling his parents that he got the SGA gig - which I had heard before, but it's still funny. And someone had asked about him and Star Trek and he said that he had been seriously considered for the role - mainly because of the Scottish accent and the son of the actor who played Scotty (sorry, I'm not into Trek so I don't remember) actually endorsed Paul. But then JJ Abrams went with someone else. I did ask Paul a question - which was "If you could do any role - past or present - in a movie, tv show, or theatre, what would it be and why?" and he replied with "Bond. Paulie Bond." and the reason being that Bond is just such a cool character. And it was weird - I hung out in the bar with him last night for quite a while and wasn't nervous *at all* and asking the question had my heart pounding. Go figure. But Paul's so much fun - especially when you get him talking about his cast members and him doing an impression of Joe Flanigan - and he's got it pretty dead on.
Paul's photo shoot was fun. He put his arms around me for the shoot and his head against the top of mine. Then Elissa had gotten a photo and dragged the rest of us into it and I got to stand on one side of him and afterwards got a hug out of him. On the way out, I picked up my photos from yesterday - which didn't turn out too badly. (And I realize I'm my harshest critic when it comes to this.)
The autographs were after the photos and I hadn't planned on getting Jay's, but after his talk, I decided to and he was quite nice up close. Paul was obviously nice.
After that
mashfanficchick, Jen, and I went to dinner and had fun talking fannish and non-fannish things and talking about "Dessert".
The dessert party was fun. I totally took over when we found seats and told Jen to put her bag on a seat between us so we'd have Jay and Paul between us. Jay's quite nice and personable. And when Paul sat down, he first says, "Beware of her, she's trouble" about Jen and then said, "and so's she," about me. He was fun and made fun of Joe and his hair and how much product Joe uses, but that the make-up ladies love the two of them because they do their own hair. And when he had to move, he kept touching me on the shoulder.
After that, we went to the bar to hang out and it was much less crowded than last night. And I don't think it was because Paul wasn't there. But it was fun talking fannish stuff and just hanging out.
And the quote in the cut tag comes from us getting on the elevator and either
mashfanficchick or Elissa complaining about the fact that we might have to go up before we go down, so I said, without thinking, "It doesn't really matter if it goes up first. You gotta go up to go down." which sent them into giggling.
If you haven't noticed, I've totally fallen in love with Paul. :-P

Date: 2007-11-04 11:41 am (UTC)I enjoyed meeting Jay in Chicago. He's pretty funny.
I remember that restaurant being pretty slow. Are the elevators still working so far? Keep having fun! I'm enjoying your posts. Green with envy!

Date: 2007-11-07 03:15 am (UTC)The only thing I remember him saying specifically as Joe was "I want a turkey sandwich." but there were a few things. "Can I go home now?" (or some variant) was probably one. It is hysterical how they imitate each other. They really are all great friends.
The elevators did work the whole weeekend. And they totally made themselves up to me for last year between getting to meet Paul on them and getting to ride with Michael.
Still totally "eeeeee!!!!!!" over Paul. (There may be no hope for me now, since this is Tuesday.)
