Sep. 21st, 2007 06:38 pmYou know what's addictive? Weight Watchers' message boards.
After unexpectedly losing 4lbs last week, I was like, "You know what? I'm going to keep going with this and see what happens." So I was good - writing things down and tracking my points, drinking my water, going to Curves, all of that. (Note: I doubt my week was "perfect", but I know that this whole thing is a work in progress.)
And I lost another 4lbs this week. Yay!
On top of that, I feel *good*. I have no other way to describe it than saying that I feel good. So, we'll see how this goes.
And I wanted to check out the message boards because I didn't want to do the meetings again, since right now they're still tied up in my parents trying to make me lose weight. And it's fun and I feel more comfortable there than I think I did in a meeting. (On a side note: there was just a thread about whether doing it just online and not going to meetings had worked for anyone and it seems like it has for a few people, so that makes me feel good.)
In other news:
1. My dad has a girlfriend, though I haven't heard him use that term for her. (He's still introducing her as his "friend" and they've been going out since late May.) I've met her twice so far and she's really nice. But you know it's getting serious when one of their dates was to my cousin's birthday get-together.
1a. My dad's cute. I forget what exactly we were talking about, but somehow it came up about having "overnighters" and he started giggling and I told him that I didn't care as long as I didn't get kicked out of my bed. (I really don't care what my dad does, since I know he's not going to do anything stupid. And I don't really want to think about him having sex, even though I know for a fact that he has and that sex, in general, isn't bad.) And it sounds like she's going with him down to the beach next weekend for an "end of summer" bash some friends of my dad's are having.
2. 3:10 to Yuma is a really good movie. You should all see it. It's got Christian Bale and Russell Crowe in it. (And Alan Tudyk's in it!)
3. I've been working my way through the Bond movies and I've seen the first four. I've enjoyed them so far (and have enjoyed laughing at them). And I swear to God, Sean Connery's accent gets more pronounced with each movie.
4. I rewatched Dead Poets Society the other day. I watched it years ago and for whatever reason, I felt like watching it again. OMG, it was a lot angstier than I remembered. And the weird thing is, I knew that certain things happened, but I completely put them out of order and had either forgotten or blocked out about 20 minutes near the end.
4a. One thing that always stuck with me from the movie is Robert Sean Leonard playing Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream - and especially him doing the ending soliloquy.
4b. Dead Poets Society was filmed in Delaware at St. Andrew's.
5. My muse is taunting me.
6. We had our "Man Shower" for Greg, our textbook manager - who's getting married next week. It was a lot of fun and very irreverant.
7. Did I mention how addictive the WW boards are?

Date: 2007-09-22 02:35 am (UTC)There are some very good LJ Weight Watchers communities, too. I'm in two of them -- well, two that are active and another one that's kinda dead, just for recipes.
((hugs))

Date: 2007-09-22 02:57 am (UTC)I've never gone to meetings and only done WW online and it really works for me. I've been bad off and on this year with keeping track, but I'm pretty good about following the habits I've learned. I'm still struggling with the exercise aspect, but having the gym just at the end of my building helps a lot. Maybe we can motivate each other. I try to remember it's feeling good and being healthy that's important, not what the scale says. Not always easy, I know!
That's nice about your dad. He's a sweet guy - when he's not being as asshole to you. (Hey, gotta defend my friend!)
BTW, did you hear Kate Hewlett is coming to NJ? And there's a special performance of her play for con goers that Sunday night. Not sure if you're planning on being there or heading home, but let me know if you want more info. You're lucky! Kate's really sweet.

Date: 2007-09-24 03:40 am (UTC)I did meetings for a while in the beginning, but with the way my family's been, I feel like that option's been co-opted. And I'm glad you're able to go to a gym. I've found it to be a good stress reliever, aside from the obvious health benefits. Motivationg each other would be great! Right now I'm a bit focused on what the scale says, in part because of my family - and this way I can tell them stuff when they want specifics. (Plus, I do share some of my dad's analytical-ness and I like seeing that it's coming off, even if I can't *see it* see it.) Once I get down to where I want and get comfortable with maintaining, we'll see....
LOL. Thanks. And, yeah, he can be cute.
I did now! :-P That's cool! I'm not sure what time I'm heading home. I'm sure it'll be Sunday night, but I haven't decided on a time yet. And, yes, give me info! :-D

Date: 2007-09-23 04:36 am (UTC)Your dad does sound cute. And hey, at least he's not my grandma, who refers to all adults' girlfriends/boyfriends (gay or straight) as "his (or her) special friend". SRSLY. *g*
And dude, thanks for reminding me of all the movies I have to see. *goes to play with her Netflix account*

Date: 2007-09-24 03:46 am (UTC)He is cute. (Most of the time. There are times when he's a pita, especially about my weight.) At least she's being equal. :-P
LOL. Have fun!
Oh, did you hear that Kate Hewlett's going to be in NJ?
