Nov. 6th, 2006 02:17 amI am now back from the con. I'm tired and everything's a bit overloaded and a blur, but I did have a great time.
The bad - I got a speeding ticket in NJ on the way home and the cop seemed to be a bit of a hard-ass PITA. So - *grr* to that. And we couldn't get the extra nights at the original hotel put back on my card or transfered to another hotel, but we do have credit at that specific hotel and it sounds like we can put it off almost indefinitely. (But it might be nice if
nakedwesley and I want to go up and see Common Rotation in NYC or something.
Thursday was an easy ride up and check in at the hotel. (Despite driving past it and then figuring out that you can't make left turns in NJ.)
nakedwesley, D----, and I watched Joe's pilot for "Manmade" and some songvids - lots of fun.
Registration was rather easy Friday. And there was a lot of hanging out with D,
nakedwesley,
psubrat, and the people I know from
tribalforces. We missed Dan Payne's talk, which now I kinda wished I had seen, but that's okay. We did see an episode of a Canadian sitcom he did - which was fun. And then he and Alex Zahara did a caberet later that night, which was fun. They did a parody of an SG-1 episode - which was quite amusing. And, apparently, Dan's talk got a little naughty and in between things, a few of the TF people come up to me and are like, "Adrian! What room are you in?" and I was like, "604, why?" (since I had already told them) and they were like, "well, apparently, Dan's staying with you." So that was a bit of a joke for us.
Saturday was - whoa. I am totally in love with Colin Cunningham now. He's just so...squee! He was the first of my photo ops. When I got up to him, he shook my hand and said, "Hey, darlin'. How're you doing?" and just very sweet. His Q&A was lots of fun. He's very energetic and out-going and all. And he brought a dvd/cd/whatever with some pictures of different stuff he's done, so it was neat seeing the different make-up and hearing some of his stories. My photo op with Carmen Argenziano was nice and he called me sweetheart. (Which made me wonder if everyone was going to be giving me a nickname.) His talk was nice, but much more sedate than Colin's (but, then, almost everyone's would be, so...). Teryl Rothery is so adorable and tiny and energetic. (It's odd that I'm actually taller than her, I'm so used to being shorter than everyone.) And her talk was lots of fun. The photo op with Jason Momoa was interesting, mainly, I think, because I went from one with Teryl - who is 5'2" to one with Jason, who is 6'4" and I *barely* come up to his shoulder, but he was quite nice (just as the others had been). And it was neat hearing him talk about how he got into acting and all and about how he and Joe are best friends.
During the autographs, the costume and talent competitions were going on to keep people occupied and to keep things moving and by the time the juniors were done, all the rows in front of mine had been called. And as they announced the winner of the kids, Colin rushes over to where I had been sitting from where he had been doing autographs (behind a curtin behind the stage), put a hand on my shoulder as he stood and watched the stage and asked who won. I told him and he was like, "oh, okay, they're still on the kids," stood there for a moment or two more, and then went back to the autographs. When I got up to him in line, he was like, "hey again, darlin'" and gave me a kiss on the cheek. When I handed him my notebook to sign, he was like, "what do you want me to do with this?" and I was like, "whatever you want." So he drew a flower, wrote a tiny note, and signed it. Teryl and Carmen were quite nice during the autographs. Didn't get much of a response out of Jason, but I think part of it was because they were also making him sign photos for something else while he was also doing us. The dessert party later that night was fun. Jason, Teryl, Carmen, Dan, and Colin came and mingled with us and we all got a few minutes with them. (And Dan and Colin weren't even scheduled to come. And somehow Colin slipped his handler rather quickly.)
Today (Sunday) was quite nice too. We had a breakfast this morning with Colin (who was supposed to be at that), Cliff Simon, and Joe Flanigan. Same basic concept as the night before, but with breakfast. Didn't get very long with Cliff because Joe was at the next table, but he did sit next to me and we talked the most because three of the seven at the table weren't very talkative and for the rest of my group - well, Joe (which is understandable). Cliff is quite nice. Joe is as well and looks very good with stubble and the aviator sunglasses. And Colin gave his handler the slip and was going around talking with people and taking pictures, though the con people tried to get him to stop.
Had a photo op with Cliff - which is a bit of a blur aside from the fact that he's gorgeous and I love his accent (South African really does it for me). His talk was fun and it was neat hearing all the different stuff he's done in his career - like acrobatics, modeling, he was Mr. South Africa a few years ago. And when he was signing one of the banners on stage, he shouted, "Don't look at my ass!" and when there was some laughter and whistling, he wiggled it. Joe's photo op was a bit insane because of the amount of people, but it went well - what I remember. He asked where I was from, but didn't comment and I was worried that his hand or watch were going to get caught in my hair. And we also had a group shot with him, with the four of us girls looking up at him and afterwards, he was like, "I feel like Hugh Hefner." His talk was fun and he got a nice range of questions.
I didn't really say anything to Joe in the autograph line, but he also asked what I wanted him to do on my notebook and I told him whatever and he put "Sheppard" under his name (which might be standard). But he does look at you when you're having a convesation. Cliff was really nice. And when I told him I was commanded [by the TF friends] to tell him that my friend [
eternalmusings] that she loved Ba'al and thought he was the pimp daddy of the system lords, he was like, "That's great. I love it. I'll have to remember that."
After that, D----, S--,
nakedwesley, and I went for dinner (getting a bit lost in the process), before heading home.
I can't believe it's over already.
