Three entries in three days. This must be a record for me or something. :-P

My right ear's been stuffed up for most of this week and I've tried a number of different things, but none have completely fixed the problem, so I think I need to get the wax removed. Does anyone know if my regular doctor can do this, or if I'll just be told that I need to go to a nose/ear/throat doctor?

And, for those of you who have seen the Sentinel episode "Hear No Evil", my right ear unstopped itself on Monday and stayed that way until about Tuesday night or Wednesday, and I was like, "Wow, this must've been like what Jim felt, but less painful."

And, yes, I do realize that I've become a fangirl.

Have you tried flushing out the ear yourself with something like Debrox?

Yeah, and it's helped some, but the ear's still a bit stuffed up.

I just remembered that one time when I visited the campus health clinic because I was feeling miserable due to some winter bug that was going around, the nurse looked into my ears as part of the checkup. She noticed there was a wax buildup and brought out something called the Elephant Ear Washer (http://www.doctor-easy.com/id25.htm). It worked very well, and there was no need for drops like with Debrox or other home methods. So, I'd guess that if your doctor was properly equipped, there wouldn't be a reason to specifically visit an ENT specialist.

Oh, okay. I'll have to call and ask then. Thanks.

Probably, your regular doctor can handle this. I'd ask first and then make an appointment, though, to be on the safe side. I mean, why pay for a visit when you could find out on the phone that you need an ENT doc? Especially when I was younger (say, around your age) I'd get this wax thing and if I wasn't careful, I'd get a raging infection behind it. This is why I'm somewhat hearing impaired now: accumulated scar tissue from the infections. So don't farky-doodle around! Call your doctor and get this cleared up!

Will do. I think the reason why I haven't already is because I don't have benefits/insurance through work, so it'd probably cost a bunch, but the alternative'd cost more, right? I'm gonna see about calling on Monday.

One of the numerous ways that the American Way is far inferior to that of other nations is our medical/insurance racket, er, I mean system. People should NOT have to mortgage their futures to pay for medical care. Okay, I could get on a major rant about that so I'll just shut up now!

((hugs))

Well, okay, I realize that I am a fangirl, but I just recently realized that it extended to "Sentinel" as well.
