Oct. 10th, 2011 11:58 pm1. Even though it means I have to work Saturday, I had off today. (Yay three day weekend.)
2. I had to get up at oh-dark-thirty to meet my dad so we could drop off my truck to be serviced. (But it's good we did, because it needed it and I'm sure it's thanking me, even if my bank account isn't.)
3. Had another productive day - this time cleaning.
4. Went with my dad and my grandparents mid-morning to pick out fabric for my grandparents' furniture to be reupholstered. The range of choices was rather overwhelming. (And they ended up going with a different shade of red than what they already have.)
5. Watched Red Riding Hood and it was pretty good. (Admittedly, I thought it was going to suck.)
6. "Castle" was really awesome.

Dec. 30th, 2010 11:21 pmI saw Voyage of the Dawn Treader tonight and it was awesome. I have yet to read the book, but now I'm really looking forward to it.
Two things, though:
1) Every time I see Aslan, I cry.
2) I ship Caspian/Edmund like you wouldn't believe.
And I saw a preview for Drive Angry. (A new Nicholas Cage movie.) ... Yeah, my standards are set really, really low for that one.
But I will probably go see it because
a) I find action hero!Nicholas Cage fascinating.
b) William Fichtner's going to be the villian!!! :-D

Jan. 31st, 2009 10:53 pmI saw Inkheart today and I enjoyed it. Now I want to read the books. And I know this will sound weird, but as I was watching the movie, I couldn't help but feeling like Paul Bettany was perfectly cast in the role of Dustfinger, though there's no way I'd know that with not having read the books.

500 / 225000 words. 0% done!
Writing was pretty much a bust this month, since I realized fairly quickly that I was beating a dead plot idea. (Though, I did write 500 total words for two ficlets a few days ago.) But I think the downtime was good for me, both in getting things done and in relaxing, and now I'm excited to start writing again tomorrow.
And here's what I now have in my writing queue:
- 1 fanfic idea that needs to be outlined, then written
- 3 partially done fics (2 fanfic, 1 original) that just need to be finished
- 4 fics (2 fanfics, 2 original) that need to be written
Somehow, this seems much less frenetic than what I was in the middle of at the end of December.

Aug. 3rd, 2008 11:57 pmI totally made up for not writing yesterday. Today I wrote 3200 words. Easily. \O/ I'm starting to think that some calculations I was making to actually make my NaNo wordcount might actually work.
This afternoon I saw Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D. It wasn't nearly as cheesy as I was expecting, which was nice. And the 3D part of it was cool. An added bonus was the audience's reactions to everything - the gasps and laughs and comments and all.
I also finished season 2 of Doctor Who today. For most of the second half, I was giggling because I found the Daleks and the Cybermen going at it to be rather amusing. But Rose and the Doctor's parting was sad. I do like that they went to Pete's world, though. And I like the changes that world has had on Mickey.

Jun. 7th, 2008 10:20 pmToday was good, aside from the fact that it was 95 degrees and *humid*. (A cold shower never felt so good.)
I lost another pound at WW this week. So, I've been doing pretty good between last week and this week for not really exercising and still eating a fair amount of crap. I've just been eating less of it and sleeping more. And that's the frustrating thing - I know that I've got a good - if not great - metabolism. I just don't let it do its job. I'm going to take baby steps this time, I think, and see where that gets me.
It was weird to have my writing goal be under 2000 words today, since I've been having the tendency of writing over that the past few weekends.
This afternoon my grammy and I went to the mall, since I needed to get some new pants for work and return some shirts. (And I wanted to get some more tea.) And my grammy's been wanting to go shopping with me for a while. She ended up finding a pajama set for when she, my dad and granddad go on vacation later this month. And she bought me two tops and a pair of pajama bottoms.
I went to Teavana and got some more of the Plum Harvest tea (which makes a very yummy iced tea). And I tried the Rooibos Caramel Creme as an ice tea and it was pretty tasty. I'm not sure I'm completely sold on it, but I'd drink it again.
Tonight was Newark Nite (or, as my dad describes it, when the townies take back the town [since it's the week after graduation]). I went into town about 5:30 and it was *still* really muggy. It was a nice night, though. I got some yummy pepperoni pizza for dinner and splurged on dessert and had some Coldstone ice cream. I also got to see Mad Sweet Pangs - which is a local band I've been curious about. (They're like '70s rock with mixed with blues and a hint of country and folk.) While watching the show, a Stormtrooper walked by. Yes, you heard me right - someone was dressed up as a Stormtropper. I wish I knew why and I gotta give the person credit - the suit *had* to be hot.
I tried to watch Sands of Oblivion tonight. And was reminded why I don't watch the Sci Fi movies (even if I did get most of the way through it). I love Morena Baccarin and Adam Baldwin - but not that much.

May. 19th, 2008 11:53 pmI had to laugh at work today. I was ringing up a girl's purchase and she says, "Are you a theatre major?" I replied, "Yes." (Well, I was!) And she says, "I thought you looked familiar. I think we had a winter session class together."
I forget how I answered that, mainly because I was trying not to laugh. Because the last time I took a winter session class? Was a few years ago. (And it feels weird saying that.)
Tonight,
e_dog and I went out with a friend of mine and a few of her friends to see Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian. Overall, I really liked it, though there were a few moments where I felt they were being a little too liberal in their usage of the phrase "based on the novel".

Aug. 16th, 2007 10:14 pmThe only downer aside from work lately was getting my credit card statement the other day and realizing that both the hotel from when I was out in Oklahoma and my pass for the NJ Creation Con hit on the same statement. So, it's at least triple what it normally is. (Yes, there was a bit of spazzing out at first, before I looked over the statement.)
Otherwise, two movie recs. First is the movie adaption of Neil Gaiman's Stardust - which was really cool. (Though, I will admit that I haven't read the book yet, so I can't make comparisons.)
And secondly is The Contract with Morgan Freeman and John Cusak. This was also very good. (And I'll admit that I'm really surprised that it was a direct to video release, given the two stars.)
I just realized that I somehow forgot to rec 10 Items or Less when my mom and I watched it a couple weeks ago. It's a little indie film that has Morgan Freeman and Paz Vega. (And for you "Rescue Me" fans, Bobby Cannavale has a small part in it.)
I'm going straight from work tomorrow to spend the weekend with
libralyte. (And I may even get lucky and see
lixta.) I'm very excited.
I'm also very excited because Death at a Funeral is *finally* coming out this weekend. Alan Tudyk's new movie is finally coming out! And it looks like it's going to be *really* funny.
And how did I not hear about The Last Legion? The first I heard of it was seeing a poster last weekend when I went and saw Stardust. But it's probably better that I haven't heard of it because a) it's both a swords & sandals movie *AND* an Arthurian movie (brain melts at that thought) and b) it's got Colin Firth *and* John Hannah (brain melts again). And a little bit of trivia: Colin Firth was Mr. Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice and Aishwarya Rai, the female lead in The Last Legion, played Lalita Bakshi in another adaptation, Bride and Prejudice (her character was the Elizabeth Bennet of the movie).

Jul. 27th, 2007 12:24 amYeah, you know it's probably time to go to bed when you hear "Minas Morgol" from the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King soundtrack on your Pandora playlist and your first thought is "Attack of the Flying Monkeys!"
But I want to finish up this one scene and maybe start the next one first. I've been writing for about 11 days straight now. I think this is a new record for me. (Well, recently, anyway.)
I'm taking a personal day tomorrow and my dad and I are going to the beach. Yay, beach! My dad was bugging me about finding out if I could earlier this week and I was like, "What part of 'My boss is out of the office and I have to wait for her to email me back' don't you understand?" But, again, yay beach!
I went and saw Hairspray again tonight. This time with my friend Sharon. She'd wanted to see it and we'd wanted to get together for a while. Plus, she wanted to "pay me back" for when we had gotten together this past spring. So we went to dinner and then the movie.
And I'm still in love with James Marsden. And I forgot to mention before that there's one point where he's wearing a purple suit and, damn, he actually makes it look really good. And prior to this movie, I hadn't known that he's a trained singer. Here's one of his songs from the movie - Nicest Kids in Town. And here's one that he did when he was on "Ally McBeal" - Always on My Mind.

Dec. 28th, 2002 12:16 amYay! I'm done with my evil Sociology class! But I got an Incomplete in it. How can I get an Incomplete? I was there every day, I took all the tests - okay, so I may not have done very well on them, but... Who knows? I should probably email him and ask.
But Christmas was very cool. I love Christmas - a) because it's Christ's birthday and b) I feel a legitimate reason to go shopping - I can do it for other people! I enjoy shopping for other people and watching as they unwrap their presents. I also got a bunch of cool gifts - including the Kane cd and the extended edition DVD of "The Fellowship of the Ring" - but I got that from both my brother and my mom, so now I have two of them. (Which is weird, since I only asked my mom for it.) So, I'll have to exchange one of them. But, I'm still very happy.
Got to go see The Two Towers on the 20th. Enjoyed it very much overall, except for a couple of little things. Loved Gollum and Helm's Deep.
Also saw Drumline - twice. It was a lot of fun - definitely recommend it. And some very cute guys in it as well. And Leonard Roberts - who played Forrest on "Buffy" - was in it too.
Went down to Washington, DC, today with my dad. Lots of fun. Went on a tour of the Capitol - which was cool, the Smithsonian's Museum of American History, Ford's Theatre (where Lincoln was shot), and then to the Air and Space Museum to watch Apollo 13 on the IMAX - which was cool.
CA town sells on eBay - I heard about this today, first down in DC, and then when I got online and thought that it was quite funny.

Oh. My. God.
Nov. 25th, 2002 11:49 pmThe funniest thing just happened. Regina and Susannah were watching Meet Joe Black on tv and at the end, before William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) and Joe Black (Brad Pitt) exit, they're talking while watching a party thrown in Parrish's honor from a distance and there's a lull in the conversation and they just look at each other. It's a wide camera shot and you can see the starry sky and the fireworks in the background. And Susannah goes, "Duh, duh, duuuh. And now they're gonna kiss." Which sent me and Regina into hysterical laughter. This is a girl who, when she first got introduced to slash was "Eeewww" (after asking if one of Regina's pictures was of two guys [a screengrab of Curt and Brian from Velvet Goldmine] while we were talking about slashfic).
Okay, so now for stuff since the last time I updated.
I turned 21. And no - I haven't gone drinking yet. Haven't had time. So if anyone wants to take me out or give me alcohol, be my guest.
And I'm going to LA!!! I'm so excited! I get to see all my Shelter friends again (or at least most of them) and meet some new people (including some of the cast and crew of "Buffy" and "Angel"). I can't wait for February!
Travesties went *really* well. I'm really happy about it. We have a few more shows in December and my whole family's coming on Dec. 5th. And I mean everyone - both my parents, my grandparents, and my brother. And John's even coming. (Although he's not exactly a part of the family.) And Nathan (one of the actors) is so cute - whenever I tell him that he did a great job with a performance, he starts blushing and gets a little flustered and embarrassed. Went to a cast/crew party at Jewel's (the director) house this Wednesday, which was a lot of fun. And after the party, Jewel and Marj made Nathan take me home. I don't live very far from them, but they wouldn't let me leave without knowing that he was driving me home.
And I'm upset! "MDs" hasn't been shown since the Halloween episode. I hope it doesn't get cancelled.
I have this huge audio project due after Thanksgiving that I have to do on the computer, which I'm really worried about, but things are going good for it. M.A. (another actor) just offered to help without me even asking - which was an answer to a prayer that I haven't even asked - which was great. Hopefully I won't screw anything up too badly.
Last Thursday was the dining halls' Thanksgiving dinner. Ended up eating dinner with Dan and some of his friends. It was as a lot of fun. Even got some compliments about my faith - which is cool, since I don't even remember ever saying or doing anything around him, aside from wear my "God Wars" shirt.
Went and saw Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets on Sunday night with Regina and Beth - which was fun. And I'm still not gonna read the books!
