I knew I forgot something last night in my con report.

I had a wonderful time with [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen, [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl, [livejournal.com profile] wolfling, [livejournal.com profile] madpoetess, and [livejournal.com profile] trkkr47. And [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley and [livejournal.com profile] ktnb are the best roommates a girl could ask for.

And [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl put her vid up on yousendit.com, so you better go get it before the week's up.

And the vid that [livejournal.com profile] wolfling did with [livejournal.com profile] mogigraphia, "Declaration Song", is now up on her site.

Both are well worth checking out.

ConneXions!

[livejournal.com profile] connexions was so amazing and I'm really sad it's over. I hope we can have it again in 2007 and will do pretty much anything in my power to help with that. (Famous last words, right? :-P)

I went to some really good panels aside from the normal fannish ones (like for Starsky and Hutch, Firefly, Angel, Buffy, NCIS, The Sentinel, etc). One was "When Fandom was Young 2" and was a continuation from last year on the history of fandom and, obviously, the slash aspect. I am pretty dang grateful for where things are now, considering where they were. Another was "Coming out of the Other Closet" - about coming out as a slasher to your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/significant other. Which, even though I don't have any of those in my life now, I know I will at some point, plus, I wanted to see if there were any tips/whatever that could be translated into coming out to non-fannish family/friends. And I think I'm now basically into "The Sentinel" fandom. There goes my streak of being fandom-monogamous, or, at least, not being in *that* many fandoms. Ack, vell. There was also one called "Falling for the 2nd Banana" about why we love the sidekick instead of the hero. And "Spirituality and Slash" was good - we mostly talked about characters' spirituality/religion, or lack thereof, but also about authors' spirituality/religion. Today's panel "Can Fandom be Healthy" was good and I'm really glad we had it. The "Sex Scenes" panel was also a good discussion on writing sex scenes in general.

And as to the slashiest character in the Buffyverse (and both Lorne and Andrew were brought up), everyone seemed to agree with my statement of "Well, Andrew's obviously gay, but Lorne's just fabulous."

Had fun at the room parties. Went to one Thursday night for "The Sentinel" and saw the first two episodes, so I need to go track that show down. Thankfully, I have some leads. Was going to go to the "due South" party on Friday, but by the time I got there, it had left DS and moved on to hardcore gay porn. (And it wasn't even that good from the bit I saw.) Last night I went to the "Starsky and Hutch" one for a while and we watched part of an episode and a bunch of songvids. Then I wandered down the hall to the Harry Potter one, where I actually ended up talking to someone about Smallville and pimping [livejournal.com profile] serafina20's Corner of the World story. (Since, obviously, neither she nor it can be pimped enough.) Then I wandered down to the "Highlander" party and ended up watching the first part of the Four Horsemen two-parter. And it was kind of interesting, because everyone was pretty loud and all for a long time on Thursday, then not so much on Friday (but still well into the wee hours) and then last night, it was pretty dead as I walked down the hall around 12:30/1:00 - and I don't think it was completely because of the time changing.

The vid shows were both great. Friday night's Previously Viewed vids had a bunch of really good ones, among them were vids from [livejournal.com profile] kimberlyfdr ("Walking Away", "Remember When" and "Used to Somebody" - all S&H), Recycled Media Station ("Passenger Seat" - multifandom and "Bring on the Rain" - can't remember the fandom), one each by [livejournal.com profile] mpoetess ("Declaration" that was Xander/Krispy Kreme) and Diana Williams ("Invisible" - multifandom to the Clay Aiken song) that I had somehow not seen before. The Saturday Premeiring vidshow was also really, really good. There were two by Diana Williams (HP Snape to Joan Jett's "Bad Reputation" and "Handle With Care" - multi-fandom to The Traveling Wilburys - both of which are on her site for download). [livejournal.com profile] wolfling did one called "Desperation Song" for LotR. [livejournal.com profile] mpoetess did one called "Not Pretty" (Black Adder fandom). And [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl did an *amazing* one for the movie Priest to the song "The Truth About You" (can't remember the artist off-hand). I really need to see if I can find copies of these vids now. I know that at least some of them will be going up within the next few days. And I know that I'll be able to get them all on the con dvd that [livejournal.com profile] slashmommy is having put together. I also *really* want to learn how to vid now.

[livejournal.com profile] abelladonna to [livejournal.com profile] kimberlyfdr while they're talking about vidding at the Starsky and Hutch room party - "You can't have the world's biggest dork [my note - Paul Gross] as a musical source."

Managed to do pretty well in the dealer's room. Did buy a Sentinel zine that came highly recommended, as well as a Kiefer/Lou zine. Also bought some dvds of Diana Williams' vids. Almost bought a very nice (and slashy) Jim/Blair piece of art, but didn't. Besides, I don't really have anywhere to display it right now. But it was very nice. Maybe if I see it again.

I got to meet [livejournal.com profile] byrne, [livejournal.com profile] dancetomato, [livejournal.com profile] essene, [livejournal.com profile] ladycat777, and (obviously) [livejournal.com profile] kimberlyfdr - all of whom are really cool.

Randomness:
- [livejournal.com profile] slashmommy's little girl is quite possibly the cutest little girl *ever*.
- I also now own the first season of "Carnivale" and all the eps so far of "House".
- I have decided to start outting myself as a slasher to my mundane friends, starting with my best friend. And I know that doing it through an email is probably not the best way to do it, but I know that by the next time I see her, I may not remember, and I don't want that to happen. With my mom I'm going to do it with one of my fics (Galileo for anyone wishing to know). For some odd reason, I'm getting the vibe that I should use a songvid to tell my dad, so any recommendations for that would be greatly appreciated. (I'm thinking a "Starsky and Hutch" one, but I'm open.) Not exactly sure how to come out to my brother and other friends (or if it's even really necessary, though I do want to be open with them). Am not telling the grandparents, unless they find out inadvertantly.

I am now off to update my friends list, write that email to my best friend, get some other things organized, and possibly start printing out the story for my mom.

I know I posted some highlights the other day, but I've decided to follow the crowd and do a more in-depth report. And I don't think I've totally caught up on my sleep yet.

Which I'm going to put behind here, since it's on the longish side. And a small spoiler for SV's Crisis (aired on 3/3/04) in Sunday's review. )

I had a really great time at ConneXions. It's so much fun to be able to talk to other fen, regardless of fandom, and know that they get what I'm talking about.

Some highlights:

- Getting to see [livejournal.com profile] wesleysgirl, [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, and the other BNFs. And getting to meet [livejournal.com profile] trkkr47 and [livejournal.com profile] ktnb, who are a lot of fun.

- Realizing about halfway through a panel that I had left my wallet on the couch in the hotel lobby an hour before. By the grace of God (or whatever), some con people had found it and turned it into the front desk.

- Someone in a panel (which was actually for Master and Commander, but that's beside the point) talking about Gov Swann/Norrington slash and during the scene where the govenor's chatting him up to Elizabeth, she's like, "oh, just squee and get it over with."

- The songvids on Friday and Saturday night. Diana Williams does some really great vids in a bunch of different fandoms. (Unfortunately, her stuff isn't on the net, but you can get it from Agent Wtih Style.) And Flamingo does some great "Starsky and Hutch" vids (which, sadly, also aren't online; must find a way to get a copy of some of them). Also saw some kick ass vids from P.R. Zed. "Gay Bar" is a multimedia one that's a lot of fun. And "One of God's Special People" is a very touching Boromir one. (You ***HAVE*** to see this one, Regina! I command you!!!) Dementia Inc. and Remy both did some really cool vids, but I don't know where to find them yet. :-( Must find them.

- Got a bunch of Kiefer/Lou zines, so I'm very excited. :-D :-D :-D

- Getting a really kick ass drawing of Pippin and one of Faramir (which, I think, in reality, is a bit more rectangular in real-life, but that's beside the point) at the art show.

And since I heard "Underneath Your Clothes" by Shakira on the way home, I now have the seeds of a Legolas/Aragorn fic floating around in my head again. Damn.

Went to ConneXions this past weekend. Was lots of fun. Got to meet [livejournal.com profile] justhuman, WesleysGirl, Mad Poetess, The Brat Queen, James Walkswithwind and a bunch of other people - go check out her journal for some of their journals. V. cool to be able to talk to people about slash and not have them look at me like I've grown three heads or something. Although, I did get some odd looks when I said that I was a Keifer/Lou fan - which is *NOT* RPS. It's fic using characters that they've played in movies (like Doc and Chavez from Young Guns or their characters from Renegades or even, like, one of Kiefer's characters from one movie and one of Lou's from a different movie) or having one of the characters be an original one, but having the characteristics of one of the actors (which I've seen in some zines using Kiefer's character from The Lost Boys). I got to see my first episodes of "Starsky and Hutch" and "Man from U.N.C.L.E.". They are both very slashable - but MUNCLE is so much worse. :0) And I love the "Starksky and Hutch" song vids. There was also a Gunn/Wes one (the only one from the Jossverse :0( ) that was really good. They may not be my OTP, but they're definitely cute. There were also some others that I liked - hopefully I can get the video of them all. The "Buffy" and "Angel" panels were lots of fun. (Especially when the question "Who wants to sleep with Wesley?" was asked and all but two raised their hands. And we were talking about Gina Torres being on "Angel" and someone commented, "Wash, come get your wife.") The Slashology panel was kinda cool. The Sex and Sexuality panel (aka the TMI panel) was lots of fun. Minotaur's introduction was funny - "Hi, I'm Minotaur and if you don't know who I am, what cave have you been living in for the past few years?" He runs a site with lots of slash tips and stuff. Don't have the URL handy, but it shouldn't be hard to find. Watching "Firefly" eps late at night with [livejournal.com profile] devon, Minotaur, and others was lots of fun. Especially while watching the original pilot ("Serenity"), Minotaur goes, "I'm a gay man and I'll admit that that's a great ass!" (about Zoe). And Devon's Mal outfit - which was very cool (even if the pants weren't as tight). After watching "Serenity", I'm now convinced that Kaylee is a slut and will do practically anyone. And the subtext between her and Inara was practically text. Some people had shirts with quotes and stuff from the "Very Secret Diaries" by Cassie Claire - which was cool. Got to pick up some more Kiefer/Lou zines (yay!) and then walked into the food court of the hotel/bus station with them on top of my folder - which I quickly switched. (Don't want any weirder looks than the ones I might already be getting.) At least the zine where the illo has them both naked wasn't on top. And I got adopted into the fandom while at the K/L panel - which was cool. And then when I saw Martha for the rest of the weekend, she'd tell other people who were around that I was a fan. And she also tried to get her son to bring some more zines for me, but he accidentally brought the wrong ones. The only downside to the whole weekend (aside from it being over too quickly), was having to tell my dad about it and not being able to bring up the slash side of it. I could do it, but I didn't like it.

And on a side note - it's snowing now. Why is it snowing in April - especialy in Delaware???
