Got this from Jesusfreakhideout.com by way of the Newsboys Messageboard. Not totally sure who the "we" is, though.
We just got back from the Adoration Tour in Bethlehem, PA, co-headlined by The Newsboys and Rebecca St. James with special guest Jeremy Camp. Anyone who has seen the Newsboys in recent months may notice a new face among the News members. Last Fall guitarist Jody Davis took a break from the band and allowed Bryan Oleson from the indie group Casting Pearls to fill his spot temporarily. We met up with Oleson after the show to find out what happened to Davis. Although no details were given regarding the reasons why Davis had left, Bryan did confirm that Jody will not be returning to the Newsboys lineup! Oleson was asked to stay as his permanent replacement. When asked about the future of Bryan's other endeavor, Casting Pearls, he revealed that the band intends to still work together and is in talks with a few record labels as we speak. Bryan also told us that the Newsboys have been working on some new material but no official recording or release dates have been set. While we're excited to welcome Oleson to the Newsboy team, we're sorry to see Davis go and everyone at the Hideout wishes him the best.
And while I know it's still unofficial, it's still sad. I hope everything's all right with Jody and his family.
I didn't want to admit it after the concert, since I could tell that it was someone other than Jody, but I thought that maybe he had just gotten hurt dirtbiking or maybe his wife was having a baby or something, since no announcement was made during the show. Then I thought that maybe he had just gotten his hair cut, since it had be rather unruly before, but even so - the new candid pictures on the site don't look like Jody with shorter hair.
And don't get me wrong, I have no animosity towards Brian. Believe you me. I just wish I knew what was going on since Jody's been a part of the group for the past 10 years along with the rest of the current guys. And from what I heard on Friday, I think Brian will fit in well with the group.
