I did a scan on my laptop and aside from about a dozen tracking cookies, it didn't find anything.

Weird.

I just finished the knitting goal I had for tonight, which is good for two reasons. One, it makes me feel much more hopeful that I'll finish the afghan before Christmas. And two, it's helping me relax and not want to defenestrate my laptop.

This just occurred to me, but are you just using a standard anti-virus to check? Sometimes, there is stuff that gets past them. You could always download Malwarebytes or, even better, Combofix. These do a deeper scan than your normal anti-virus, and they may be able to find stuff that is hiding.
