I think I'm set for this weekend.

I went to BJ's after work for myself and my grandparents and it was crazy - as was expected. But even with having to wait a while at the deli counter and in the checkout line, things moved along well and people were nice. I was still in there about an hour and a half, though, for a trip that would normally take at most half the time.

From there, I went to a local grocery store to get milk (since I don't need a gallon of it) and peanut butter. It wasn't too bad there, but I did get there about 7:30 or so. But the bread was completely gone. The milk and peanut butter were almost gone, and there was maybe half a dozen eggs left.

That's one thing that always amuses me about a storm - people always buy milk, bread, and eggs. Personally, I don't get it, but that may be because I don't find French toast to be all that great. And, besides, if I was stocking up for a storm, I'd want ohter stuff too/instead.

I'm finishing up laundry now and will start the dishwasher before I go to bed so I won't have to worry about that this weekend.

Storm aside, this is shaping up to be a relaxing weekend.

I bought a gallon of milk because we were down to half a gallon and the hubby and I actually like to drink milk. But in addition to the one loaf of bread and jar of peanut butter I picked up, I also bought 8 2-liter bottles of diet soda (the husband hates to drink water, and I filled a few pitchers to wash with if it gets so bad we don't have running water), 3 boxes of nutri-grain bars, a box of granola bars, bananas, apples, and honey. All stuff that doesn't need refrigeration, all stuff that doesn't need heat to cook. That's what confuses me about the milk and eggs - if the power goes out (and they are saying lots of folks will be without power for extended periods), you can't get to it, and for the eggs, can't prepare it (unless you also have a generator).

Good luck with the storm

Yeah, I did that sort of thing too - spaghettios, tuna, chips, cookies, made some iced tea and filled up some water bottles. Yeah, I don't understand that either with the power situation. I'd really like to see what the people who don't have power are going to do with their milk and eggs now.

I did okay - power stayed on. My grandparents are here, since theirs went out. I hope you made out okay.
