May. 26th, 2009 11:59 pmWell, I actually got home at 12:30, and it's a few minutes after that.
Going up to Philly to see Carbon Leaf was *so* totally worth it.
For one thing, I got to meet up with
libralite and have, an albeit quick, dinner with her. I haven't seen her in months, so it was really good to see her and do a quick catch-up. And I got to give her her Christmas present. :-D
The opening act for Carbon Leaf was The Alternate Routes. I'd never heard of them before, but they were good. And their lead guitarist, Eric, made me think of Paul McCartney (both in looks and the fact that he's a really good guitarist). I had to laugh when I realized that
libralite and I had seen their bassist outside on our way in. (It's hard to miss the mop of red hair.)
Carbon Leaf was *amazing*. They played a lot of stuff off of Indian Summer and Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat - which is good, since those were the two I had. Yes, were. I bought the newest one, plus the older ones they had for sale afterwards. :-P (I'm sure
semijocund will be proud of me.) And I loved that Jon brough his upright bass with him (especially since it's taller than he is). And as good a guitarist as Eric of Alternate Routes was, I think Carter was better. And Barry's voice is amazing too (it sends shivers down my spine at times and does things to me).
Okay, I'm stopping now because I can feel myself moving dangerously close to babble territory.
I am thisclose (maybe even closer) to going to see them in Dewey on Friday. But a few factors are going to have to be taken into account. One being that I have to work on Saturday and they're going on later on Friday (but don't have to be in until 10). Also, it's graduation weekend for UD. *And* it's going to be a NASCAR race weekend in Dover. We'll see.
