I really liked Star Trek. Granted, this is coming from someone who's generally aware of the show and whose only knowledge comes from how much it's pervaded popular culture. And the theatre was packed. It wasn't sold out, but there were definitely a lot of people there. It seemed like everyone else liked it though, from the reactions during the movie and one of the guys behind us afterwards told his friends that he liked it and that now he has a lot of respect for J.J. Abrams.

I'll definitely be interested in seeing what other fans think of it.

And one of my coworkers, who is a bit of a Trekker, is going to see it tomorrow night (but is going to be off work tomorrow), so I'm sure we'll discuss it on Monday. And when I told her I was excited about it today, she was like, "You're starting to turn into a Trekkie and after this movie, we'll work on making you a Trekker." Which made me laugh. For one thing - I don't have the time to get caught up on the canon!

Jeremy posted to his Facebook that he was more excited about being commissioned as a Lt than graduating from college -- and more excited about the new "Star Trek" film than either. Yes, my boy is a geek. *grin*

He's already warned both his fiancee and me that he intends to see the movie "multiple times."

You know. If you decide to see star trek again, I'd be up for that too. =D Wolverine. Star Trek. I'm open. I seriously don't get to see you nearly enough. =( I really hate my schedule, I do.

and as I type this, iTunes player randomly starts the theme for star trek II: the wrath of khan. i wish i were joking. =P
