Feb. 8th, 2009 10:34 pmThe dinner went really well tonight, so I'm very happy about that. There were eight of us and almost everyone brought something, so we had a nice variety of food. So it was a night of good food and good conversation. :-)

They announced the Shore Leave guest list and it looks like it's going to include Jason Momoa, Rachel Luttrell, Robert Picardo, and Christopher Heyerdahl.
I think I'm going to have to go. Seeing everyone but Jason holds some allure for me. I've already seen Jason twice, so I'm rather 'meh' about that, though I *am* curious to see how the Shore Leave people handle Jason, considering he has a mind of his own (like, he would've taken a bunch of us to the guitar store with him at CreationCon back in November if Tammy hadn't put her rather sizable boot down very firmly) and they seem to give the guests a bit of freedom.

I'm now finished season one of "Due South". I absolutely love the show. I can't exactly explain why I do, but it just hits all the right buttons or something. It's comfortable - like your favorite t-shirt or something.
I was surprised that I didn't remember any of season one aside from "Victoria's Secret" (more on that one in a minute). I know I watched it when it was originally on, but I honestly only remember a little bit of it. Sure, I remember the characters (or, at least all of the ones I've encountered so far, though for some reason I thought Fraser Sr. was played by Leslie Neilsen and not Gordon Pinset), and literally a handful of scenes, but the only episode I really remember is "Victoria's Secret" - which I had always assumed was the finale for either season two or season three. (I had only seen a couple of Ray K's episodes, so for some reason I thought he was only around for season four.)
So now I'm ready to watch the rest of the show. And find Fraser/Ray V fic. I totally love the whole Fraser/Ray V vibe on the show. (And part of me wonders how much of their relationship Paul Gross and David Marciano played up, and how much was just natural chemistry, especially since there are moments when I'm watching it and thinking "You guys *have* to know how this sounds, right?".)

Date: 2009-02-09 04:22 am (UTC)Glad your dinner went well. There's nothing like good friends with good food. =>}
Ray V. was there for Seasons 1 and 2. Ray K. for 3 and 4.
Leslie Neilsen plays another Mountie later. =>}
I started reading DS slash at the beginning while the show was airing and loved BF/RV but as soon as RayK came along it was only ever BF/RK for me. *g*

Date: 2009-02-10 04:18 am (UTC)Ah. Okay. I thought you meant you knew him from some other show.
We watched the show when it first ran and when RayK showed up we were stunned and as confused as Fraser. But RayK sure grew on me. *g*

Date: 2009-02-09 05:38 am (UTC)Shore Leave: this is when you say to Jason, "Hey, a bunch of are going down to Crazy Lil's tonight. You wanna come?" Considering the Hewletts were caught shopping at Wegmans, safe bet they're allowed at least some freedom to do things they want to do.
This will be at least my 4th time seeing Jason. Second time for everyone else. Of course, I get to see Paul 3 times this year, for a total of...5 altogether? Y'know, they all start to run together after a while.

Date: 2009-02-09 05:59 am (UTC)Re: Shore Leave. I haven't seen any of these guys, yet! HURRAH! Stick with me and you can pretend like you've never met them. I'll be nervous as heck, I'm sure.

Date: 2009-02-10 02:55 am (UTC)Heh. I wouldn't be surprised if Jason beat us down there. :-P
Third for Jason, first for everyone else. You're a lucky girl getting to see Paul so much. :-D

We had a blast last year, so I'm sure we will this year as well. :-D I think you would have a great time at Shore Leave. I hope one day you can make it.
