Dec. 4th, 2008 11:59 pmSo it looks like I'm going to be joining
phoenixnj13 and her crew in NYC on Saturday to spend the day in the city and then see the 8pm show of Spamalot. :-D This should be a lot of fun and I'm actually intrigued to see Clay Aiken in the role of Sir Robin (the part created by David Hyde Pierce).
There are still a few details to iron out (like how I'm going to get to the train Sunday morning and where exactly we're meeting on Saturday), but I'm sure we'll have no problem getting those things ironed out.
And I don't think my dad's too happy about my plan to go to NYC. Mainly because he doesn't know
phoenixnj13 and, well, *NYC*. (Which, I can see his point.) But I did do the "Well,
mashfanficchick knows her and you've met *her*" which usually works with other people (especially people that
eternalmusings knows). The other part of the reason being that Sunday's the day we'd planned to get our Christmas tree and now I won't be going. And, I can understand there too, because that's a standing tradition that we have, but I've gone every year since we started and I don't think I've missed a year. (If I have, it was *once* and a long time ago.) So I played that card and did the whole, "Chase has missed a few times - granted, he was usually working, but still...."
It feels like I can't win either way. But I'm still going to have fun.

Date: 2008-12-05 06:35 am (UTC)I think it's a thing about un-internetty (not a word, I know) people. Jim isn't internetty and doesn't have a clue about learning about people online. For that matter, neither does Nicholas. Even though he's only 24, he's not very internetty, and he goes insane whenever I announce that I'm about to meet up with someone I know only from the internet, no matter how long I've know her. Dude, if I ever meet up with one of my male internet friends, both Jim's and Nicholas's heads will explode. *snorts* Anyway, I choose to think of it as something rather amusing and anachronistically charming. Otherwise I'd have to strangle both my guys. (Strictly frivolous side note: According to this stupid spell-check, there is NO correct way to indicate the possessive form of the name "Nicholas." *argh*)
Have fun in NYC. (If Aiken is a quarter as good as David Hyde Pierce, however, I'll eat my beret.)

Date: 2008-12-06 04:00 am (UTC)I think it is too. Because that's my dad. (Though, he's better than Nicholas, since he's met a few of my friends.) Though, in theory, he's good with the idea of penpals and such. :-P (But the whole internet penpal thing is "different".) Don't talk to me about spell-check. I'm still boggled that there was a while where Microsoft's spell-check would go "Error: 'boyfriend' (or 'girlfriend') is too gender specific, please choose another option. Option: 'significant other'."
Oh, I'm sure we'll have fun. *grin* For one, we're going to FAO Schwartz (I've never been there and always thought it would be kind of cool). I'm intrigued about Aiken. I *totally* totally loved DHP and I'm skeptical about Aiken being able to handle Sir Robin's big song - "You Won't Succeed on Broadway". So, we'll see. You'll hear about it either way. :-P

Date: 2008-12-06 04:58 am (UTC)I have my doubts that Clay Aiken can handle either the singing or the acting. I absolutely want to hear about it!

Date: 2008-12-05 11:28 am (UTC)It's not like you (and I) haven't wandered around NYC before. You know how to find
Madison Square Gardenthe subway. And if you have to miss picking the tree, this one time, they should understand. Especially since you know Chase could (and has) missed it, probably without a comment. If your Dad is that set on you being there, can't you go another day/evening? I hear those tree lots are open more than one day a year. *g*
Anyway, have fun! I look forward to hearing how this version of the shows differs from the one we saw.
*uses Alan Tudyk-ish icon too*

Date: 2008-12-06 04:04 am (UTC)Madison Square Gardenthe subway. And the Empire State Building. :-P And good Italian. And I was dropping Patch off at my grandparents' tonight (so my dad wouldn't have to worry about her tomorrow and my granparents didn't have to worry about me rushing) and the granparents were totally cool with me not going with them. I'm sure they would've liked for me to go, but they got it.
I'm intrigued about it too. Part of me wants to see the difference and the other part's going, "NO! The first time was perfect!" But, yes, you will be hearing about it. :-D
