An era is over.
At about 8:57pm, the last episode of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" - "Chosen" - finished.
I remember starting to watch it about halfway through junior year of high school (which would have been January 1997) and my first episodes were "Surprise" and "Innocence" (in my area, the show was being moved from Monday to Tuesday, so they decided to do a two night in a row thing). I got into it because a friend of mine was always talking about it and so I finally gave in and checked it out and I've been hooked ever since. (And as I some times joke - 5.5 years, 2 series, countless Tuesday [and Sunday and Wednesday] nights, many great friendships that will probably last forever, a handful of fic written, even more read, getting leied 6 times and a website later.... :0D)
I SO CALLED IT!!!!!!
Okay, had to get that out of my system. After all the hoopla over what might happen next year on AtS (and if you don't know - I want to know your secret for staying so spoiler free since it seems to be all over), I was like, "I *bet* Spike's gonna die somehow." And guess what? If it's true that he's goin' to "Angel" (which I'm reserving judgement about until I see it), it'll be interesting to see what happens. I wonder if the whole Shanshu thing will play into it. Well, I guess we'll just have to see.
And Anya. *lower lip starts to quiver* NO! She and Xander were working!
I like Wood a lot now. I think he'll be good for Faith. I hope he pulls through.
Yay for Xander, Giles, and Andrew! They're still alive.
It may've been corny and stuff, but I loved Xander's "pary in my eye socket" line. And I loved how the four of them had that little conversation before they started the fighting. And Giles' "oh dear, the world is doomed." It's been way too long since we've had one of those.
And I'm still not a B/A shipper (and never will be), but I really liked Angel's interaction with Buffy this time around. Even if he isn't the brightest bulb in the pack most of the time and usually does have the maturity level of a 12-year-old, I think he has grown a lot since he moved to LA. And while he still thinks that Buffy's his one and only, I think it's a big, healthy step forward for him to know that now's not the time for it (and just not because of the whole Apocalypse deal) and walks away.
And damn! Not only did they take out the high school (again), but they took out the whole dang town! I loved how the highway sign fell into the crater.
Okay, will probably say more once I have a chance to digest it all and also after I read other people's comments in various places.
Found in a recent inteview with Joss - "You know, Xander is as important a role model as Buffy and people will never really get that, I think, most of 'em. But, the fact of the matter is that I had a two-fold intent, which was to create a role model in the idea of a girl who's a genuine leader and the role model in a man who is not only comfortable, but turned on by that."
