Yeah, so I went down to DC today to see Richard III at The Shakespeare Theatre. They did The Winter's Tale earlier this season. :0( I would've loved to see that. (It's my favorite Shakespeare play.) Anyway - back to Richard. I enjoyed it - or at least moreso than reading it (but that's probably part of the point). And out of the about 12 people that died/were killed in the play, I think a grand total of three weren't killed on stage. (And for those familiar with it, yes - the princes were killed on stage.) Acts 1-3 could probably be aptly be retitled "Richard III or How the Props Master Found They Had Extra Fake Blood in the Back of the Cabinet". I think the most startling death for me was Lord River and the other guy (too tired to think of his name), just because they were shot point blank against two large plates of glass, and so there's these two huge blood splatters against the glass for the next scene. And Acts 4 & 5 could probably be aptly renamed "Richard III or How He Discovered The Joys of Leather Bars" just because for all of Act 5, and most of Act 4, Richard and his guys are all dressed 99% in black leather. (And based on Ratcliffe and Lovel and another guy - again too tired to remember his name - and how they subconsciously acted for most of the show, Richard wasn't really deformed, he just hasn't recovered from reaping the benefits of the leather bars the night before.) But overall, I realy enjoyed the show. And the guy who played Richard - Wallace Acton - kinda looked like Sting.
The only downer was that I remembered in about the middle of Act 4 that I forgot to set my VCR to tape "Buffy" tonight. Grr! Argh!
But we watched the new version of The Importance of Being Earnest (with Reece Witherspoon and Rupert Everett) on the way down and High Crimes (well most of it) (with Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman) on the way back.
I scored a 84% on the "How University of Delaware are you?" Quizie! What about you?
