May. 11th, 2008 11:57 pmToday I went with my dad and granparents down to the beach to celebrate Mother's Day. We were going along fine until we got to about Milton, and suddenly there was traffic at the one (I kid you not) stoplight on Rt. 1. Since it wasn't really moving and we saw flashing lights and an ambulance, we decided to turn instead of going straight and when we got up to the intersection, we saw that a pick-up truck had somehow run over the front of a car and totalled the front of the car and the underside of the truck (the back wheels were missing).
So, changing our plans, we ended up eating lunch in Milton before again heading south on a different route and going into Lewes. We walked around the Main Street and did some window shopping and looked in a couple shops. Then we went and looked at the Cape May/Lewes ferry (not very interesting, especially since we weren't riding on it).
We finally made it to Rehoboth and walked on the boardwalk some before going up Baltimore Ave to look for a shop my dad and grandparents like. Baltimore Ave is the center of gay activity in Rehoboth and when my grammy and I (who were walking before my dad and granddad) turned the corner onto Baltimore Ave, we saw four guys walking together and she says to me, "Looks like we're in the right place - this is where all the gays are." I just rolled my eyes and replied, "Grammy, I know four guy friends who walk together - it doesn't mean anything." We didn't find the store, but still had a good time.
We drove down to the Inlet to look around a bit, but the wind was really blowing, so we didn't stay very long.
We went back into Rehoboth and had dinner at a seafood restaurant that's owned by a guy who used to work with my brother and it was quite good. (Even if I got some good chicken fingers, but my dad and grandparents loved their seafood.)
After that we headed home. And it was pronounced that today was a good day. :-D
I can't wait until it's a bit warmer and I can go down to the beach and swim.

Date: 2008-05-13 03:35 am (UTC)Then there's my dad, who doesn't really talk about it, but lets things out from time to time. (Like having a bigger reaction during Casino Royale when he saw Bond in the suit for the first time than the Bond Girl in the slinky dress. And making a little "aww" noise during Hot Fuzz when two of the main guy characters shared a look.)
And then me - well, you know that. :-P
