This came up while I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley last night, and I know that at least [livejournal.com profile] thebratqueen and [livejournal.com profile] lucifrix were talking about it as well, but I didn't see their comments until I read TBQ's lj today.

Anyway, Kath and I somehow got onto Jasmine and whether or not she really is evil (people-eating aside). And here's how it's going in my mind.

I'll get this out of the way right off the bat. I actually have no problem with her eating people. In a way, it's the same as us eating chickens, cows, pigs, etc. A being's gotta eat, right?

Okay, so yeah, I'll agree that lack of free will is bad. But otherwise, Jasmine seems to be good, right? I'm not going to argue at the utopia that she seems to be proposing. There's no violence, etc. - which is a good thing imo. And aside from the maggot face, everything seems to be pointing to that she's good.

But at the same time, most of us probably have the same (or a similiar) mindset as, and will probably agree with, the Fang Gang and jump to the conclusion that Jasmine is evil based on the little that we've seen. Lack of freewill and massive brainwashing are never good - not to mention her eating people (even though the FG doesn't know about that yet).

I know I haven't thought this all the way through, but I guess what I'm getting at, though, is what if Jasmine really is good? Aside from the "maggot face" and the eating people, it really could go either way. All we really have is Jasmine and her version of things on one side and the crazy guy & the FG with their version of things on the other. The "maggot face" might just be a side effect of the blood (and he was in a mental ward - I personally would be a bit wary of fully trusting him right off the bat). I know that I've been waffling these past two episodes between wanting to believe that Jasmine's the genuine article and then pulling myself back and going, "No, because she's got to be evil. Even though there's no real evidence, that's the only way it can be." (And I'm sure that we've never seen people jumping to conclusions with bad results before. :0P)

But either way, I'm sure that it's definitely going to be interesting to see what happens.
