With having a new router that's working (yay!) and things starting to settle down at work after the start of the spring semester, I don't really have much to say.

I'm excited about going to Shore Leave in July - that's going to be a blast. And one of my co-workers, who's a big Trekkie and has been to Shore Leave a number of times, was squeeing with me when I mentioned it the other day. She's cute when she does it.

Tonight was the 100th episode of "Mythbusters" and they had a special about "MacGuyver" - which was lots of fun. And it basically confirmed what I've thought for a long time about fictional shows with a lot of science - there's a kernel of truth for practically everything and that some of it actually does work, but that there's a lot of flash and drama mixed in too.

Well, off to finish my writing for the night. I'm definitely liking working on this fic a lot.

I don't think the guys on the show said that outright, but they definitely proved that most of the stuff is possible to some extent BUT... Like, one of the experiments was using a gram of pure sodium mixed with water to blow a hole in a wall - well, it'll give a good flash and bang, but it can't blow a hole in a wall. And they always do the "DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME" spiel and explain how dangerous what they're doing either is or could be and you always see them taking as many precautions as possible.

Although, last night, I could've sworn they actually did give permission to sorta try it at home. LOL. Probably for the stated reasons above, though.

That most of what MacGyver did left something important out or he just simply didn't have enough of the material to get the desired result.

I also think it's nearly impossible to get pure sodium unless you work in the science department of a university. Acquiring that much bambo, probably impossible. And all of what Jamie and Adam did for their MacGyver challenge was simple at home stuff and not nearly as dangerous as most of what the Mythbusters have done on the show.

All in all, I really enjoyed the episode last night. =)

Yeah, I think they kinda did too, at the end.

And I think they did make wise choices with the experiments they did try - for the reasons you stated.

But, yes, very good time indeed. :-)
