I had a good New Year's Eve yesterday. In the afternoon, I visited with my friend Heather, her husband Chris, and their 5-year-old niece (who was also over visiting). We hung out for a bit and ended up pulling out their game of Sorry and playing it.

Then last night, I went to my friend Jean's house and we hung out and watched some tv and played Trivial Pursuit with her parents. Jean and her mom were on a team against her dad and I. It was rather amusing, since none of us were good with the sports questions (I don't know if I've ever played with anyone who is) and we kept getting questions related to the band Nirvana. But we had a good time (even if Jean's mom accused Jean and I of being slow because we would talk).

Today I had to run to the store for crescent rolls and swung by Panera on the way home for my usual and brought it home (which was kind of weird eating it at home.) Then my grandparents came over and my grandmother and I got the New Year's dinner started (pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes, and applesauce) while my grandfather watched one of the numerous Bowl Games. The dinner turned out well and it was my grandparents, my dad, our neighbors and I.

I just deleted the email I've been using as my plot bunny list for God only knows how long and I feel kind of sad about it. Probably because I've had it for so long. But it wasn't worth keeping because all the ideas I had on it had either been written out or abandoned aside from the fic I just started and I have that information elsewhere as well.

And here's some random quotes I had tacked onto the bottom of the email:

"Shall we torture ourselves with these homoerotic feelings for a few more months before we surrender to the love that dare not speak its name?" (I have no idea where I got this from.)

After I have a conversation with 2 students one day at work, one of which is wearing a shirt that says "gay? fine by me.", a guy comes up wearing a windbreaker that has ARMY on the left breast and says, "I didn't know they were on sale again."
And I replied, "I didn't know they were on sale to begin with."
He added, "I got one." (Then more to himself,) "Love is love is love."

"There's only one you for all time. Fearlessly be yourself." - Anthony Rapp (I believe)

"Just somewhere along the way I developed a problem with watching you die." (I believe this is from the movie The Replacement Killers.)

"I wouldn't accept your submission if I didn't respect you." - Anonymous quote in SM 101

"Some stories don't have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Life is about not knowing, having to change, taking the moment and making the best of it, without knowing what's going to happen next. Delicious ambiguity...." - Gilda Radnor

I believe this may be Oscar Wilde paraphrasing Lord Alfred Douglas, or something along those lines. Don't quote me on that.

It probably is. I know he's the one who's used (if not coined) the term "love that dare not speak its name".

Actually, the phrase was in the Lord Alfred Douglas poem. But I don't know if at that point it had anything to do with homosexuality.
