Today was a good day.

Had a chance to hang out with one of my oldest (in years known) friends and her husband today. We haven't had a chance to do that for a long time.

Then I met up with another friend, Beth, and we went to Paradocx Vineyard's Tasting Room to try their wines (which were quite good). It's interesting - this year they bought some grapes grown by a guy my dad knows in high school. (We know this because he runs the place where we get our Christmas tree. Small world, huh?)

After that, we went to Potstickers (Asian fare) for dinner. And they have very yummy vegetable sushi and potstickers. (Regina - we'll have to go there when you come down.)

I just finished watching Corrina, Corrina - which is such a cute movie.

Now _I_ want Potstickers and you can't get them around here. *sigh*

That's cool about the winery and their grapes. =>}

I LOVE Corrina, Corrina. Daughter used to watch that one a lot and I'd join her from time to time. =>}

I didn't watch Corrina, Corrina much when I was younger, but it's very cute and fun to watch. I fell in love with it all over again this time. :-) And I like how they built up the story too - and added in the prejudice without being overbearing.

Since we had a mixed marriage (white/black) on our street that never bothered anyone around here, I remember having to explain to our daughter why it was considered such a bad thing in the movie. Not that there isn't still prejudice around, but not in our house while our kids were growing up.

I don't think we have any mixed marriages in our neighborhood, but one of my cousins married a black man and it's never been a problem with us. (Though, I think another cousin's husband doesn't like it, so he doesn't come to our get-togethers.)

Yeah, there never was in our house either, which I'm thankful for (even if we didn't talk about things either). Though, when I was in college and my mom found out that a guy friend of mine is gay, she told me that she was afraid he'd turn me gay. I responded with something along the lines of, "Right. Mom, the worst thing that's going to happen is we're going to look at guys together."

I" think another cousin's husband doesn't like it, so he doesn't come to our get-togethers."

His loss, the moron. I sure wouldn't have married anyone prejudiced like that!

Oh yeah, being gay is SO catching! That's how come gay people are always born from a het "relationship"! Sheesh!

My Mum was okay with the whole gay thing. Way ahead of her time for someone her age. =>}

I agree - his loss. I could understand if, say, the guy was a jerk or something, but he's really nice. Well, I think that "jerk" was married first.

Yeah, no one ever said my mom's logic and/or reasoning made sense. :-P

The funny thing is, I remember watching a movie called Kiss Me, Guido with my mom (this was years and years ago - probably after it first came out) - which is very gay and she had rented it and she didn't seem to have any problems.
