That's a continuity thing from the SG1 finale. He's 40 (?) years older than everyone else because he lived through the timeline to fix it.

Going on two years now.

And I'm intrigued by the picture on his wall.

I think that's one of my saving graces because I don't watch SG1. Whenever there are similar plotlines on SGA or there's something that harkens back to SG1 it's all-new for me.

Give it time...I think it will be suitably dealt with this season (at least, I hope so) Or Katie is totally his fall-back cover because he can't seriously tell the new leader of Atlantis (the military leader) "I have a big gay military boyfriend named John" (though spend ten minutes with John Sheppard and you know he's gay and totally in love with Rodney going by how much cock-blocking he does)

I can understand that. Though, there have been times when knowing something on SG-1 has made it that much more fun if/when it shows up in SGA.

I hope it's suitably dealt with. Though, the idea of Katie being his beard is rather amusing. (And, yes, John is so totally gay.)

One of the reasons it took me so long to finally give SGA a chance was because I didn't know anything about SG1, so I couldn't see myself catching up on 10 years of canon just to watch this spin-off show, but once I fell under the spell of Hewlett ;) I realized that SGA is formatted so that you don't technically have to know SG1. Yeah, there's crossover and it harkens back to things that have been referenced on SG1, so you can go check out those episodes, but since SGA is in a whole other galaxy and they're basically creating everything from the ground up I didn't need to catch up on 10 years of stuff. For that I'm eternally grateful.

I don't buy the McKay/Brown thing just because I don't feel that there's enough basis for it. There's what as evidence? The botched date in "Duet" and their conversation in "Sunday"? That a relationship does not make. But, yes, Rodney is very cute.
