Jul. 8th, 2003 01:27 amWell, I made it home and back safely. One thing I miss about being in Delaware over the summer aside from family and friends is the beach. I, sadly, didn't make it down this weekend - but I think I can survive until mid-August when I go home. (And then I'll probably practically live there on the weekends and whenever else I can.)
Left Madison at 5:30 am on Friday and got into Wilmington at 9 am and got home by 9:30. We had a barbeque on the 4th for Independence Day and I went swimming in our pool (which was very nice). Then we went and saw fireworks over by the University.
Saturday I went down with my dad to see my Uncle Bruce (my mom's oldest brother). He's in the hospital at the University of Maryland. He's got a really bad case of pneumonia, plus and infection the doctors can't identify (or at least couldn't as of Saturday). The good news is that he's starting to breath on his own and the ventilator's on its lowest setting - which means it's not actually working, but if he stops breathing, it'll kick in. Also got to see my Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop (my mom's parents), since they were up from Florida to see Uncle Bruce and to help Aunt Margaret if she needed it.
Sunday I went to church - which was nice to go to my home church. Then I went out with Heather for lunch and to see Legally Blonde 2. It had its moments, but my recommendation is to wait for it to come out on video. And Heather's niece, Mackenzie, was staying with her and her grandmom for they day. Mac just turned one about about week ago and she's adorable. She's saying a few words and can almost walk (according to Heather - "she takes a couple steps and before she realizes what she's doing and then stops.") I was making faces and sticking my tongue out at Mac and getting her to laugh and at one point she opens her mouth and sticks her tongue out. Yeah, I'm gonna be a *great* influence on that kid. ;0P
Today, I came back to New Jersey. My mom brought me and I showed her around the town and the campus a bit and we had dinner together. It was nice.
I rented Just Married and Sorority Boys over the weekend. Enjoyed them both immensely. And Michael Rosenbaum looks *really* good in drag.
*Sigh* And the things I do for fic. I think I'm beginning to understand J.K. Rowling's whole "I need more time for HP&tOotP to do research" deal.
