So, I'm read an SGA fanfic and one of the characters turns out to be a hermaphrodite. Sure, cool, fine by me and all that.

But......

Since when is the vagina a secondary sex characteristic?!?

Umm... Unless we're using the words in the rather bizarre sense of "characteristic of the secondary sex" -- as in De Beauvoir's _The Second Sex_? -- I gotta say I'm at a loss.

Nope. And the worse part is, the partner was more surprised that he knew "secondary sex characteristic" than that he was wrong.

And no, the vagina is not listed. It is considered a primary sexual characteristic.

Yes, I saw that wiki when I was looking it up, thinking maybe I had been wrong all these years or something. (Or, you know, that something had been hijacked without my knowledge.)
