Jun. 4th, 2007 01:12 amSo, I've been telling
But I had a very good weekend. Yesterday was very productive and relaxing. I got a number of errands checked off, even one I wasn't planning on doing just yet, did the laundry (even if it got folded today), and even got to write some - which makes me very happy. I also went down to Newark Nite - which is a big social thing the first Saturday in June. They shut down Main Street and there's lots of booths set up for wares, information on various groups and activites, and food. And pretty much the whole town turns out.
Today, I got some planning done for another fic I want to write. I'm going to shoot for an obscene word count to see if it'll help me fix my habit of telling instead of showing. And since I really want the fic to be a success (both in that sense and plus, I think it's a pretty kick-ass idea), I'm actually making up an outline for it. And it's starting to reach the level of "outline of doom."
And we had the bridal shower for one of my best friends - who's getting married next month. (And it's weird thinking that July is "next month" already.) It was a lot of fun and went off really well. And her fiance's mother is going to do the fitting for my dress, since it's a little long. (But, yay, it still fits and I think I look quite good in it. Now I just have to make sure I don't have a stupid farmer's tan, since it's sleeveless.) But Friend's five-year-old niece was cute - she wanted to see me in my dress, so I let her and she was like, "I don't like it." And I asked her why and she said, "Because it's red. Red used to be my favorite color, but now it's not any more. Green is."
On Wednesday and Thursday, I watched Curse of the Black Pearl and Dead Man's Chest and, first off, I love Hans Zimmer like whoa. He's an amazing composer. And I did pick up a few things this time in both movies that I hadn't realized before.
I saw At World's End for a second time today. I did like it better upon a second viewing and a couple of things did make more sense after rewatching the first two movies. And best. marriage. scene. ever!
Two things, though:
1) I'm still pissed at the fact that they killed Norrington off. Did they think he had completely served his purpose or something?
2) And, also, what did Jack gain by letting Will become the captain of the Flying Dutchman? (Other than his own freedom and letting Will and Elizabeth be able to see each other once every ten years.) We all know he's been after immortality for a while, so why pass the chance up? And we know that he has a bit of a soft spot for the two of them, but not that much.
I have other things to say, but I'm way too tired to organize them coherently at the moment.
