Yeee-ah. So, earlier this week, this box pops up and says that a major update for McAfee was avaiable for free and to click to get it. It had popped up once or twice before, but I didn't do anything about it. This particular time, though, I decided to go ahead and download it because, hey, keeping my computer safe is a good idea, right? Well, after it was installed, I could only get on AIM and MSN's IM, but not onto IE.

Yep, McAfee declared martial law on my laptop.

So, tonight I uninstalled McAfee and - you guessed it - was able to get on IE with no problem. I'm planning on reinstalling it tomorrow.

But I do have one question - if the reinstallation disc says,

"To ensure that your paid subscription is retained, complete McAfee Product Setup before using this cd. After reinstalling, if you are prompted to complete Product Setup again, use the 'Current User' link to retrieve your subscription,"

where would I find said Product Setup?

My advice is to dump McAfee and go to grisoft.com. They have a FREE anti-virus that is at least as good as either Norton or McAfee if not even better. And did I mention *free*?

My first computer of my own, my old laptop, had McAfee and it screwed with so many programmes. So I went to Norton. Then I got tired of paying for Norton and followed some advice from a very savvy person and got AVG. I've had it ever since.

I'm glad to see you back, though! I miss you when you're not posting!

Thanks. I bookmarked it and will get it when my McAfee subscription runs out.
