So, I've gotten a new laptop (for many varied reasons), which will be out of UPS's hands and in mine tomorrow evening.

My question to all of you is - does anyone know how to transfer stuff from a desktop to a laptop? (Aside from, say, emailing it all to yourself?) They're both made by Dell, if that helps.

You wouldn't happen to have an external hard drive, would you? That would be one of the easiest ways to backup your data and transfer it over.

Well, I did have an external harddrive, but then I gave it back to the friend who actually owned it, not thinking to ask if I could keep it for this.

But I did get a flashdrive, so I'm sure that'll work.

I used my external hard drive and a flash drive. I've also got several things that I wanted to keep saved onto discs so they can be transferred to any computer. Other than that, you could try zipping them up and uploading them to yousendit.com or somewhere equivalent.

I bought myself a flashdrive today and am using that. :-D Figured I'd need one at some point anyway, so might as well. :-)
