I think my brain melted. There were giraffes.

I went and saw The Lion King with my mom, John, and one of his nieces tonight (it had been mine and her's big Christmas gift) at the Philadelphia Academy of Music.

During the first number I geeked out like you wouldn't believe. The artistry of the masks and puppets is just amazing. But I think the giraffes are what really got me. It's one thing to hear about the whole thing, but something else entirely to actually see it. Even if I had an obstructed view of the center of the stage, it was still *really*, *really* cool.

And Timon and Zazu were really cool.

I saw this on Broadway in NYC a while back and I can STILL remember the chilling feeling I had when the 'animals' made thier way down the isles and across the stage. FANTASTIC! I'm actually taking a friend of mine to see it in the fall back up in NYC. I'm also going to try and fit a viewing of either Wicked or RENT in too. *g*

Yeah, that was a great moment - when the animals all came onto the stage.
