sam_gamgeeI'm sure you're all aware of the "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon". Well, here in Delaware, it's more like "Three Degrees".
Today, at work, I had to an exchange for someone who had gotten the wrong sizes and he was looking at me and says, "I think I know you from somewhere. Are you from Delaware?"
And I was like, "Yes, I'm from N-----."
And he was like, "Did you go to S---?" When I said that I had, he said, "Do you remember who your teachers were for seventh grade?"
I replied, "Well, some of them."
He was like, "Do you remember Yeager and Smith?" and when I said that I had, he identified himself as Smith. Then he asked how I was doing and what I was up to and stuff. And I found out he was in Las Vegas now and teaching at one of the universities out there.
Now, I had him as a teacher about 11 years ago. I was surprised he remembered me. That was just odd. Cool, but odd.
I was at the Food Bank here in town last night with a group I volunteer with, and there were some new guys there since the last time I had been and I couldn't decide which I wanted more - to date them myself or to slash them. But we did have a good time while we were working - making snarky comments about some of the food that came in (like the fake Spam), but also having fun with some of the toys that came in (like a koosh ball and an old-fashion Slinky) and the condoms.
I have to say, I liked season 9 and thought it had some great moments. (Cam speaking Mandarin, anyone?) I liked Cam and Vala more than I thought I would, though I still miss Jack a lot. And Landry's not bad, but I feel pretty 'meh' about him.
I feel like Landry's Jonas 1.5 and that Cam's Jonas 2.0. Kinda like they learned from Jonas and made adjustments accordingly for who they were trying to replace. Well, except that I don't know if they knew exactly what they were doing with Landry. But Cam's definitely a good replacement. Even if I miss Jack like crazy. (Have I mentioned that already?) And I love the fact that Walter's around more.
I'm also sad that the Prometheus was destroyed. It's funny - when that happened, I was more upset about the ship than I was about it's commander. Though, with the Odyssey, I don't really care about the ship, and kinda care about the commander (Emerson), but I really want to know if Captain Marks is going to be all right. (He was on the Prometheus and got beamed out, then moved onto the Odyssey.)
