May. 5th, 2006 01:20 amI'm finding it hard to resist
rageprufrock's writing when she writes stuff like this:
I've also really been enjoying watching season 2 of SGA. And, yes, I have fallen in love with Ronon. I'm about half-way through, and had some comments to make, but I'm too tired to remember any of them except one.
Why is it that out of Teal'c, Teyla, and Ronon, Ronon seems to be the only one who comes from a culture whose people are even remotely close technologically to us?
(I'm sure there's a way I could've worded that better, but again - tired.)
The next-to-last thing he remembered before passing out was Terry draping his letter jacket over Conner, his large hand stroking over Conner's shoulder longer than strictly necessary. And the very, very last thing Conner remembered was knowing that he was maybe beginning to fall a little in love with Terry, his awkward hands and his graceful run, the way that he loved his brother and embraced mediocrity--that Conner, in a life less ordinary, had finally found something normal.

Date: 2006-05-05 09:21 am (UTC)Teal'c and Teyla's people's low level of technology is explained by the show as the Goa'uld keeping the Jaffa as slaves who never had the opportunity to develop technology of their own, and the Wraith not allowing anyone to develop technology that could some day rival their own. Ronon's people, and this is just me guessing here, were wiped out because they'd advance too far and the Wraith wanted to put them down while they still could.
It's suggested that Teyla's people were once more advanced than we are. Every now and then, you get little glimpses of things. Like the fire thing she uses to light the torch with in the pilot episode when John pulls out his lighter and she says, "We conquered fire long ago." And Teal'c's people just used the tech of the Goa'uld. Well, not the tech that made them look like gods, but the weapons and ships, they're good at.
Um...I think.
