Apr. 11th, 2006 01:52 amFirst, GIP!
It's "Real update" time!
This weekend was really good. It didn't go by too fast and felt like it was just long enough. I had some free passes and a rather free weekend (for once!), so I went to the movies.
On Saturday, I saw Take the Lead. Sure, it was a bit contrived and a bit sugary in places (as most "Based on a true story" films are), but it was fun, had Antonio Bandaras in it, and had ballroom dance. So, therefore, it made me happy.
On Sunday, I went and saw Slither. While, admittedly, it wasn't the best horror/alien invader movie ever, it was a fun way to spend an hour and a half. And even though it did use a number of cliches, it did seem aware enough of itself that it didn't take itself too seriously. Plus, getting to stare at Nathan Fillion for an hour and a half? Not a bad thing. And, supposedly, there was something after the end of the credits, is there anyone here who saw it and stayed that long that could tell me what it was?
And because I am still going full speed ahead with SG-1, here's a few thoughts. (I'm up to 7.15, "Chimera", for those of you keeping score at home.)
- Me, being the geek that I am, couldn't help but think while watching the season opener, that "You know what? Daniel's outfit looks *a lot* more like the one he wore for Sha'are's funeral than it does that of the other people on the planet."
- The whole exchange in "Enemy Mine" about Daniel being a pain and having to break in a new colonel was priceless.
- The whole "Jack going after Daniel in South America" made me think of Sentinel.
- It was nice to see Jonas again in "Fallout", even if his hair's a bit wonky. (Yet, kinda working.) He's definitely grown on me.
- I think Christopher Judge is a pretty dang good writer.
- I think I've fallen in love with the four leads after watching Christopher, Michael, and Rick's "Beyond the Gate" features.

Date: 2006-04-12 03:27 am (UTC)I have plans to see "Slither" myself -- *insert innocent-butter-wouldn't-melt-in-my-mouth expression* -- not that the prospect of seeing Nathan Fillion on the big screen has anything to do with that. Noooooo. *grin* I'll stay for the end credits and see if I see whatever there is -- or see if it isn't there!
I'm glad you're still enjoying SG-1. I came to it late but don't willingly miss an episode now.

Date: 2006-04-12 05:20 am (UTC)I *love* SG-1. You want to talk about late? Season 10's going to start soon! :-P But I'm in the same boat now.
