(no subject)
May. 3rd, 2005 12:09 amHad a good weekend, which went by too quickly. Finally ordered my "Firefly" DVDs, so they should be here in a few days.
I've also been very actively watching "Sentinel" and enjoying it very much. And, you know, after watching the first two seasons and the third season opener ("Warriors"), I have to admit that Jim and Blair probably have one of, if not *the*, healthiest couple-ish relationship(s) on TV. They obviously care about each other and, more often than not, will put the other's well-being before his own. Numerous times, Jim's either pulled or pushed Blair out of the way of gunfire or yelled for him to get down. There's even the instance in "Sleeping Beauty" where they're in a car chase to get their charge back and, even though Blair had his seatbelt on, Jim still put his arm over to restrain him as they took a sharp turn. And Blair's alerted Jim to various hazards more than once - such as other gunmen or the way he helped him in "Blind Man's Bluff", aside from helping him learn how to control his Sentinel abilities.
They're also constantly touching each other. And it's done with an ease that not many people seem to have - especially considering that a lot of it seems to be done in public.
And we see in two separate instances how they react when they other is kidnapped/taken hostage. When Jim is taken in "Secrets", Blair's frantic. And it's not in the "Simon! We have to do something! Jim's my thesis subject!" sort of way. And when Blair's trapped in the elevator in "Dead Drop", whenever Jim calls him, he always asks how Blair's doing and it's not exactly an all-inclusive sort of question. He doesn't seem to care as much about the other hostages in the elevator, even though one has a broken ankle and another is a) the daughter of the building's owner and b) pregnant. (And we all know there was a bear of a hug when Blair got off the elevator at the end, but the network execs just don't want us to have any visual canon.)
