The Postman (1997, Kevin Costner, Action, R) - Okay, so normally, post-apocalyptic movies make me happy, as do movies with Kevin Costner. So, in theory, I figured that I'd at least enjoy this movie, if not really, really like it. In reality, I got bored and turned it off after about 20-25 minutes. I don't know if it was just me or if it was the movie, or what, since I've heard mixed things about the movie. If anyone thinks I should give this movie another go, please let me know. Don't think I've seen enough to really make a decision about seeing it either way.

Rush Hour 1 & 2 (1998 & 2001, Jackie Chan, Action, PG-13) - Doing both of these at the same time since I watched them at the same time (they're each about 90 minutes). And also since they're essentially two parts to the same movie, imo. (The first one ends with them both going to Hong Kong and the second one starts with them there.) I'm not a big action movie fan, though I do enjoy them, but I thought that these two movies were very nicely done and I thought that it was very neat that, except for maybe one or two small scenes, the Chinese characters always spoke in their own language with each other. And the plots seemed to do rather well, and not just be vehicles to get from one fight to the next. I think that both are definitely a must rent.

Uptown Girls (2003, Brittany Murphy, Comedy, PG-13) - Very cute and a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it, and even teared up at a couple of points. I think both Dakota Fanning and Brittany Murphy are cute and adorable. And I'm curious to see how Dakota does as she grows up. I think she could be very good, provided she doesn't burn out or decided to leave the business. Definitely recommend this movie.

Dragonheart: A New Beginning (2000, Chris Masterson, Action, PG) - I actually liked this one more than the first one. Not sure why. I love Dennis Quaid and Sean Connery's cool, but.... Maybe it's just that I found this plot to be a bit more interesting or something. And the evil guy was fun. Not a must see, but definitely enjoyable if you want something light, and with which you don't have to think too much.

Amazons & Gladiators (2001, Patrick Bergen, Action, R) - I guess it's good that I got this as part of the "Rent 1 get 1 free" deal. It wasn't completely horrid, but it wasn't that great, either. I think that during most of the movie, the movie itself was trying to decide if it wanted to be a B- action movie or soft-core bisexual pr0n or something. So, the movie was pro'ly worth $.50. I'd say to only rent it if you were *really* *really* *really* desperate for a "Roman" movie and this was the only thing left. (Though, Regina, the main Amazon was played by the same woman who played Caleb's girlfriend early on on "The O.C." - "Stacy's mom has got it going on..." :-P)

We Were Soldiers (2002, Mel Gibson, Action, R) - I thought it was pretty good, though I did get bored after a while of watching basically the same thing over and over. But, at the same time, it was like watching coverage of a car accident on the news, although, I think the coverage [livejournal.com profile] nakedwesley and I saw out in L.A. was much more fun. And the fact that I wasn't feeling too great probably didn't help either. But, I think it's worth renting.

Alex & Emma (2003, Luke Wilson, Comedy, PG-13) - I thought this movie was cute, even if I didn't totally like the ending. Don't have very much to say about it, aside from I think it's worth the rent. As a fellow writer, did empathise with Alex about Emma's snarkiness.
