drdeath, her fiance, and I walked around Colchester. We parked down below the Castle Park and walked up. The grounds are really pretty - very green and lots of trees. There's also a little branch of the Colne River that goes through the grounds and we stood on the bridge and watched two male mallards get into a fight. We were going to go into Colchester Castle, but there were a few school groups there, so we decided best not to. (Colchester Castle is a Norman Keep built on top of a Roman Castle in 1076 - about 55 years before the one we saw yesterday.) We did go into the Hollytrees Museum next door - which gave an idea of life in Colchester about 150-200 years ago.
After that, we walked around town for a while and looked in various shops and I picked up some local interest books for my parents and got a nice sweater for my grammy. For lunch, we stopped in Nando's - which is a Portuguese chicken restuarant. And then we all got veggie burgers. But they were home-made and really yummy.
We then went over to the little village of Wivenhoe to see some friends ofdrdeath, but they ended up not being home. So we walked around a bit, and then decided to come back.
Tonight, I'm going bowling withdrdeath, her mom, drdeath's fiance, and his parents. Should be interesting.
