I finished watching "Due South" today and it makes me sad because now I have no "new" episodes to watch.
And the "epilogue" at the end? Not so sure about it. I can get behind Huey and Dewey opening The One-Liner, Welsh "staying behind the desk", and even Fraser and RayK going off on their adventure (though, in my mind, they do come back).
The others? Yeah, no. Not at all. I know it's meant to be kinda goofy and all that, but Francesca having *six* Immaculate Conceptions? Uh, no. And Turnbull getting hit by his campaign bus? That's just bad luck, unlike the "village idiot" that they've painted him through out the rest of the show. (Though, my personal canon for both Turnbull and Frannie diverts in season 4, and I'm considering writing a fic for it. We'll see.) And Vecchio and Stella going to Miami and opening a bowling lane? *Puh-lease*. She'd leave him in a heartbeat after she got to know him. I think the only reason she didn't do it on screen was because they were both drunk.
And this line sums up how I feel about RayK - "You ever feel like you don't know who you are? Like if you weren't around somebody, or that somebody wasn't around you, then you wouldn't be you? Or at least not the you you think you are? You ever feel like that?"
I feel like he's unfinished and that Fraser has helped him smooth out at least a few of the edges and give him more of a sense of direction and purpose than he's had in a long time (if ever). Fraser's kind of like an inadvertant mentor for him or something. Which is part of the reason why I like the idea of them going on their adventure at the end of "Due South" - I think it could be very good for RayK and give him a lot of the confidence self-knowledge that he needs.
But, in the end, I'm always going to be a Fraser/Vecchio shipper. Can anyone rec me some fic? Or at least point me in the right direction of where to start and what authors to look out for?
