Feb. 25th, 2009 11:55 pmI'm still enjoying the doughnuts my Grammy made on Monday for yesterday. (My paternal side of the family is German, so technically we have Fastnach (or Fasching) Day, not Mardi Gras, but it's the same basic idea.)
We don't really do anything else for Ash Wednesday or the beginning of Lent. And up until a few years ago, my church didn't even do anything for Ash Wednesday. (And I totally forgot that the kickoff for our Lenten series was going to be tonight, so I went to my mom's instead - not that that's necessarily a bad thing.)
I did think it was kind of cool that I saw a couple people with ash crosses on their foreheads throughout the day and as I was pulling out of the parking lot tonight, I saw a bunch of students going into the campus' Catholic chapel.
