Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday. I got a few cards, as well as [livejournal.com profile] libralyte coming down to visit for the weekend. And she gave me both my Christmas present and my birthday present at the same time, because she didn't know what to give me for which. :-P And my mom and John took us out to dinner (mmm, Mexican) and gave me presents. Tomorrow, the festivities will continue since I'll be going to my grandparents' for dinner and I'll get presents from the rest of my family there.

******

And I am such a dork. While [livejournal.com profile] libralyte and I were watching the Flyers-Penguins game, I couldn't help but think about Chuck Campbell talking about the episode "Midway" and how Jason and Chris were wailing on each other as they fought with their sticks and how they got a few good blows in and how "it's like taking a hockey stick to the head - *whap*!" and I couldn't help but think, "Yep, he's Canadian. If he was American, he would've said 'baseball bat'."

And there were also a bunch of Budweiser commercials and I kept thinking, "That's Joe's family's beer."

******

And I decided something last night when I was getting into bed (at 1:50am). I want to do a production of Cyrano de Bergerac with Kavan Smith as Cyrano.

I know, I know. It's crazy and insane (and just a little bit stalker-ish). But I'm serious.

During Kavan's Q&A at the con last weekend, it came up that he had done theatre and that he loved doing theatre, so I asked him what role he would love to do and he said Cyrano (even though he didn't think he could pull it off because he doesn't sing) because it's such a great part. And then he related this story about how, when he was a teenager, he had gone to see a production of Cyrano and during the climatic scene at the end, he found himself leaning forward with his head in his hands, elbows on his knees, crying, and forced himself to sit back and look around and saw that practically everyone else in the audience was doing the same thing.

And while at the time, I thought, "Cool", for some reason it didn't really gel until last night when the memory came to me at random and I basically thought, "*Dude*" because I get it and I want to be a part of theatre magic. And I've been lucky enough to be a part of it before - on both sides. When I went to see The Lion King up in Philly, the opening sequence when all the animals are gathering was really cool up until the elephants came down the aisles and then shivers went down my spine and it was, "holy crap, there are *elephants*!" And when PTTP did a production of Shakespeare's Winter's Tale a few years back, we did a special weekday matinee that a bunch of high school students came to and it was really cool listening to them talking during the intermission and after the show about how much they liked it.

And I want to make that kind of magic again. So now I have a goal and something to strive for. :-D

Birthday! I wasn't aware. I feel awful for not finding out (or paying attention to those birthday LJ notices). =/ Sounds like it was good one, though! Happy belated birthday!
