Dec. 28th, 2007 11:59 pmTonight was our holiday dinner with our next door neighbors - who are Italians from New York City. (He's from Brooklyn, she's from Manhattan.)
We went over just before six and got home a few minutes ago. I had a good time with the two of them, my grandparents, my dad, my brother, and his girlfriend. (And to think that we used to have about 18 of us there between our family and theirs.)
But there was So. Much. Food. We had four courses - Appetizers (sliced tomatoes and mozzeralla with oil and vinegar, tossed salad, shrimp), First Course (lasagna with sausage), Second Course (pork with gravy and mixed vegetables), and Dessert (two liquers, cookies, candies, and some caramel and chocolate apples). There was also a lot of bread, wine, and coffee.
It was a nice chance to slow down and relax - which I don't think we do enough. (I know there were a few times I found myself thinking, "Let's move it along.")
