Dec. 18th, 2007 11:41 pmI lost my wallet for about 20 minutes tonight - which was scary as hell, considering I was out when it happened.
I had gone to the Post Office after work and on the way out, was juggling a few things and decided to check my phone for the time as I got to my truck. As I was listening to a message from my dad, I put the wallet and stamps on the hood of the truck - the stamps under the wallet - and then called him back as I opened the door and put everything inside and got in. I then drove down to meet him and some other people for dinner (about 2 minutes away - literally the other end of the street) and had to park in a side lot instead of the restaurant's. I got about 5 steps from the truck and put my hands in my pockets and felt the pen I had taken into the post office in one, but no wallet, so I thought, 'let me put the pen back in the truck and get my wallet so it's not laying on the seat' - well, no wallet. I freaked out and practically ripped my truck apart, but couldn't find it.
So, I got back in the truck and called my dad and told him and then I went back to the post office to look for it. The people at the post office probably thought I was insane because I was wandering around the parking lot with a flashlight. I looked all over and couldn't find it and even went inside and asked if anyone's turned it in, but no luck. So I take a few deep breaths and figure what all I need to do - credit cards and such - and also decide to trace my driving, just in case I *had* left it on the hood - even though the stamps were inside the truck. Well, I pull back into the other lot and it's laying on the ground in my original spot. It must've fallen out of my pocket when I got out. And everything was still in it.
Otherwise, I had a nice day. The post office itself didn't take long at all (though I was expecting it to take forever). I even got a couple Christmas cards done. I'm hoping to finish the rest off tomorrow.

Date: 2007-12-19 06:02 am (UTC)Right before I moved I panicked because I'd lost my driver's license. Which meant to get one in PA I'd need to take the written test, etc all over again. Searched all over for days, then one night, lying awake thinking about it, something made me get up and look in one of my library books - not even the one I was currently reading - and there it was.
Go you for getting so much done!
