I agree with both of these recs, yes!

:-D

The first one's just hilarious.

The second one kind of crept up on me. I was enjoying it (and planning on recc'ing it anyway), and then the nameless female soldier was killed and I spent the next scene or two sniffling.

Quick question...

The second rec, that one's completely AU, or something else (like that wonderful "Freedom..." one and its sequel)? It sounds interesting either way (and I really should try to read SOMETHING non-S&H one of these days!), but I think it's one of those things where I want to know beforehand what I'm getting into.

Well, it's completely AU, but there is a slight angst level - which should probably be expected when words like, "badly wounded" and "serious physical disabiltiy" are used. But it's definitely nowhere near "Freedom...".

LOL thanks, but I meant the two things to be equals; like, is it completely AU (where they're not in Atlantis) or something else (where they were, but then it changed, like "Freedom..."). And yah, angst is good, especially when it's NOT as much as "Freedom...". Man, that one really was heavy. *is reminded of the dialect conversations she and Adrian have had* Yes, I really do say that!

So, totally AU, huh? Interesting. I'll have to give it shot. Thanks!

For the longest time I wouldn't read Fading Skies because I was never big on AUs before SGA. And missing out on that made me sad because I love disability fics. So, I gave it a try...and now I re-read that story about once a month. I love it.

Oh, man, that was perfect. Granted, because I don't really know much about SGA, it read like original fic to me, but it was great. Funny, you cried when the soldier got killed; I cried at the end, in the cafeteria and afterwards. *is trying not to spoil anything* Thanks for the rec! :-)

Whereas in SGA, AUs are practically 1:1 with canonical fics. :-P And I love disability fics. Probably because they play very easily in with the whole hurt/comfort thing - which is definitely a kink of mine.

And it may've been you that I got the fic from in the first place. :-)

And what dialect conversations were those? (Because I'm not really remembering.)

It was really good, wasn't it? I love how she really put in the day-to-day stuff and made it real. The end was really good though. :-D

Exactly! I was talking to a fellow SH fan who is into SGA as well and was explaining how, even if you don't like AUs in other fandoms, in SGA it works because they ARE canonical. We've seen alternative timelines and realities and universes. I can count five McKays we've come across so far (Ours, Rod, DrownedRodney, CitrusRodney, and MillionaireRodney) with another one likely on the way. AUs aren't so far outside the realm of possiblity in Stargate because they DO happen.

And I love disability fics. Probably because they play very easily in with the whole hurt/comfort thing - which is definitely a kink of mine.

Rodney and John (in canon) have been temporarily paralyzed with a Wraith stunner) and temporarily deaf (by the whales) so far. Is temporary blindness soon to follow?

And it may've been you that I got the fic from in the first place. :-)

Probably;) I did rec it in one of my rec posts not long ago.

Just that, in general, I'm a dialectic mutt who says practically everything on a regular basis. Except "Shalom, Y'all"; that one's Sarah's! :-)

I don't remeber the Drowned!Rodney or the Citrus!Rodney. Which episodes were they in? And the fact that SGA does explore at least some of the other possibilites makes it fun.

CitrusRodney was in Moebius (SG1)

DrownedRodney was in Before I Sleep (SGA)

It took me a while to finally have time to read all of Fading Skies. But wow! I'm not an SGA person... not that I don't like the show, I just don't love it the way I do others. So you have got to stop reccing long amazing stories! I'm getting dragged in! And I really, really don't have time for another fandom! Oh, but it was so amazing.

LOL. Hey, I'm just calling them as I see them! It's not my fault that SGA's got some frickin' awesome writers, who have written some *amazing* fics. I'm just trying to spread the love.

I was just telling [livejournal.com profile] akina16 earlier today, that were dragging me into SGA through fic! And that, realistically, I don't mind one bit!

Exactly! Sorry, brain is slightly fried right now... [livejournal.com profile] mashfanficchick said that to me too!

About the fic, not about the brain fried part, I meant

Yeah, I kinda figured that. :-P I've been doing it with her too. She's been accusing me of pimping you into SGA and I told her I was doing it unintentionally. She, on the other hand, is a whole other story. :-D

I've kind of been wavering on it since SG1 actually ended. I just hadn't made a decision yet...

Why don't you get on AIM? It might be easier for us to chat that way. :-P
