The quickest way for me to know who you are and to quickly hang up is for you to keep doing what you're doing.
I don't need Caller ID for you when I pick up the phone and:
1. There's a couple seconds of silence on your end where I can hear the background noise of other people talking (and even though it's not distinct, it is very business-like).
2. You tentatively say "hello?" (after I've already said "hello?") - which prompts me to say "hello?" again.
3. *THEN* you launch into your spiel.
If you want to keep me on the line for longer than step 1, you need to be on the ball right away and be more authoritative right off the bat. I may still hang up on you, or tell you I'm not interested, but at least you've got a better chance. Just sayin'.
