Jun. 12th, 2006 11:04 pmThis past week was quiet. Not as much fun as the week before - where I had a three day weekend due to Memorial Day, then three days at work and then three days off again because of Moonlight Rising.
And, yes, this past weekend I did a bunch of "this time last week, I was _____".
The only highlight was going to the dentist to get two fillings put in and my only other two replaced. Now, normally I have nothing against going to the dentist, and this time around I had the new guy working on me. (Which I had to giggle at the fact that the appointment was on Monday and his name is Nathan Bent.) Well, they did the normal prep work of numbing my gums (since the two new ones were going up top and in the back and the two replacers were going on the bottom - all were on the same side). The put the normal dose of one or two shots of anesthesia in my gums and within a couple minutes, the upper gum was numb, and they started to do their thing. Well, when they finished that, my jaw still wasn't numb.
So they put some more in, and we waited. Still nothing. So, they did it again. Same. Then, again, well, it started to kick in. But they started and it wasn't quite there. So, another shot. We finally decided to just go ahead and get it over with, even though one of my roots is apparently ultra sensitive, since it was only that one spot and I was reaching the limit. So, clenching my fists and thinking slashy thoughts helped.
I got about seven shots in my lower lip, and this is in addition to the one or two that I got in my upper gum. So, needless to say, the left side of my mouth was numb for the rest of the day and my jaw was sore for a day or two afterwards. This is only the second time I've had work done on my mouth - and the same thing happened then too. Which is weird, since A)that shouldn't be happening in the first place and B) usually a *half* a dose of liquid Tylenol can knock me out for a couple of hours.
Other than that, things have been pretty quiet. I'm almost caught up on SG-1. I have three episodes left to watch of season 9, then it's waiting until July 14th. I've also been working through some issues in the attempt to get myself together and save what little sanity I have left.
