I finally got to have the type of day that I've been wanting all school year (or at least all spring semester) - a day where I could do whatever I wanted and not have to worry about anything needing to get done. It was very nice. Would've pro'ly been better if there was a little stress in my life to make it feel more like a guilty pleasure, but I'll take what I can get.

Things I like about Madison after being here for a week (in random order):
1) Main St. - it's so cute. It's older than Newark's Main St., but not old enough that it's quaint. Yet.

2) The fact among the 29 channels that we get on the tv, one's the History Channel, one's the Discovery Channel, and one's HBO.

3) The Natilus diner. It's kinda cool and good food. :0)

4) The weird security on campus. I was walking around last night and saw a campus police car at least 4 or 5 times in the same area within the space of an hour. It a) made me feel a little safer, b) kinda creeped me out b/c I'm not used to seeing campus security that much and c) for some reason made me think of the runner in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (no idea why).

I'm sure I have more reasons, but I can't think of any.

So, as I was watching tv today, I heard these two quotes - which made me laugh.

Spoken by some type of forensic scientist during a programme on the History Channel on how King Tut may have been murdered - "He was a young individual. Young individuals just don't up and die unexpectedly - even in ancient times."

And by one of the sportscasters after the hockey game tonight about one of the Ducks' coaches and player Paul Kariya - "That is the biggest endorsement a player can get - he (the coach) had his arms around him (Kariya), his cheek against his cheek."

Look! I'm actually updating about a day before it's technically the next day! Be proud! :0P

Went to the local Presbyterian church this morning. Very nice church, very nice congregation (though much smaller than my home one at White Clay). Very nice experience over all. :0)

Did all my own grocery shopping for once. As in - making a list of what I need, going to get it, paying for it myself, etc. I feel very proud of myself. Even had $3.76 left over and therefore didn't have to get money out of the bank for the little excursion. Yay!

Watched to Tony Awards (for theatre if you don't know or can't keep all the awards shows straight) tonight. Didn't really have anything invested in it, but it was fun.

Let's see.... Things that are a bit sketchy here:
1) One of the steps on the staircase on my side of the building between the first and second floors. It seems to be rather loose and I'm a little afraid it's going to break.

2) The unmarked bathroom on the first floor. Is it male? female? co-ed? Damn our gendered notions for making me think of this stuff. (Doesn't mean I'm going to stop using it if I need too, though.)

3) See #4 from yesterday. While I also liked it and all, it still kinda creeped me out.

note to self - Sunday may not be the best day to be dubbed 'Laundry Day', since most of the rest of the company feels that way as well.
