Survived

Well, so far I've survived my first week back at college. Classes seem pretty cool. I'm taking Audio for Theatre, Theatre Practicum, Personality and Society, 19th Century Lit, and Animal Science 101. I tried to get into a fiction writing class, but that didn't pan out. It's probably a blessing in disguise because my two theatre classes are going to be taking up *a lot* of time and I use writing as a destresser. I am a bit miffed, though, because my Lit class was supposed to be taught by this professor that I've had before, Grossman, who I thought was awesome, but he's not teaching it because he decided to resign and go somewhere else over the summer. Bummer. But the upside is that most of the books we're reading, I've already read, which will be really good when the theatre season picks up with PTTP (the grad program on campus I'm doing my practicum with).

The next time I agree to work 20 hours in 4 days at the bookstore - someone smack me, please! I should know better, and yet I still do it.

Let's see.... Other stuff of note:

I had surgery a week ago Thursday to get the mole on my neck removed. Since then I've been bored enough to show a bunch of people my band-aid and go, "Look! I actually know why I need this!" (I'm notorious for not knowing how I hurt myself. My friends' response has changed from "Are you okay?" to "What did you do this time?" and my response has changed from "Yeah, I'm fine," to "I have no idea.")

I finished "Two Towers" about a week ago and I *so* can't wait for the movie. It looks like it's going to be really good. And it's all Regina's fault(!) but I'm now starting to slash every character in that trilogy. (And practically every other book I read.) Although, I was the one who started in on the "Fellowship of the Ring" movie. Using really ambiguous parts of novels and movies to prove a point can be a lot of fun when you're bored.

The two new roommates, Susannah and Melissa, seem really cool and Regina and I haven't scared them off yet. They're both sophomores. Although, I did give Susannah a bit of a shock the first day. She, Regina, and I were unpacking and I was cleaning out this big tupperwear tub of stuff that I hadn't looked at since I "packed" (ie basically just threw stuff in it) at the end of last year and I found my copy of "Moby Dick" that I had to read for an American Lit class (which the bookstore wouldn't buy back) and I just randomly comment to Regina (not thinking) "I still think they're gay." (They being Ishmael and Queequeg.) Susannah's eyes went huge and she was like, "What?!?"
