So, last night my mom and I were watching a TV movie, Murder at the Presidio, and at the beginning she laughed and commented, "It's Lou Diamond Philips from Law and Order!" This goes back two about two weeks ago when we were watching The Triangle and she kept insisting that he had been on Law and Order and nothing John or I could say could disuade her until I showed her Benjamin Bratt.

But, as we were watching MatP, I kept thinking that one of the other leads looked familiar, which isn't uncommon since I've seen a lot over the years and have a weird talent of remembering people from the oddest roles. I had the stray thought of maybe I had seen him on SG-1 or something, but then again, that show's been on for 9.5 years - *lots* of people have been on that show. Then, on my way home afterwards, I had the *really* random thought of "Maybe he's Canadian." When I got home, I looked him up and found out his name's Martin Cummins and that he had been on an episode of SG-1 (6x18 "Forsaken" - Aden Corso) and that he *is* Canadian. And for all you Hewlett fans out there - he played Vaughn in Ice Men.

And, after telling this to [livejournal.com profile] soft_princess, I must have a good eye, because apparently, many Canadians don't know their own actors either.

I think now I know where my geek gene comes from. My dad. Though, I'm more of a geek, and I think he's a bit more of a nerd. I was emptying the dishwasher this evening and my dad comes into the kitchen with a new pair of earphones and he's going on about how good they are and how clear they are, even if you had to go outside to actually get reception for the particular radio station he wanted to listen to through them.

Today I got a letter in the mail. And while I don't get snailmail that often, it normally isn't anything unusual. What was unusual about this one is that the stamp had been hand voided, and there was another stamp that says, "Received unsealed without contents at Southeaster P & DC 19399-9998". What amuses me is that, aside from them sending it along, empty and unsealed, to me, somehow it went from the 19341 (Exton, PA) postal code, to there (Southeastern, PA) to me, in Delaware.
