Memory Lane's a fun drive...
Mar. 8th, 2005 12:17 amFound my pre-fanfic fics today. And my het fanfics. These were all written between 1996 and early 2000. It's fun seeing how much my writing's matured since then. And I owe all my writing to having an assignment in 8th grade (which I really wish I could remember, since I want to know what made me come up with *that* fic) that's basically RPS. Like
lunanne pointed out, it's not like I really had a concept of it, but it still amuses me. And after that, I just kind of kept going. I'm amused that they've gone from these little (10-15 pages) fluff pieces that could easily have a pop soundtrack to these huge-ass epics (such as Galileo which tops out at 87 pages) that have Linkin Park soundtracks (such as the "showgirl fic", which is one that I'm working on now -
lunanne knows which one I'm talking about). I'm also amused by the fact that there's elements of h/c even in the non-fannish ones.
And there's a fic that I started in 2000 that's maybe 1/3 of the page and it just stops. Obviously, I have *no* *freaking* *clue* as to what I was going to do with it, but I think that if I change the main character's name, I could use it for a non-fannish idea I've been kicking around in my brain for a while. It's also in first person, which I haven't done since I started writing fanfic. Well, except for that little stint trying to write Groo. (Remember that,
soft_princess?) It might actually be fun, though. And it's completely different than anything I had thought of generally plot-wise for this little bunny, but I think it'll work really well with the plot points I *have* decided on.
If anyone has the burning desire to see one of these old fics to see how far I've come (or even to have a good laugh at me), just let me know and I'll gladly send something along.
And I'm almost positive my mom's read the old non-fannish stuff I've written, so I'm sure it'll be quite a jump for her. I think I'm emotionally ready to have her read it, I just need to make sure my printer can handle an 87 page fic.
