Yay! I finally broke 45 pounds. Hopefully, this means I'm back on track. And this also means that once I lose 26 more pounds, I'm going to Disneyworld! Well, not really, I'm going to Universal Theme Park, but same idea. :-P
My grammy had her surgery this morning (partial mammectomy - right breast, since they found cancer there) and my dad called around 10:30 to tell me that it went well and that her lymph nodes were clear which means that it hasn't spread. So we're all very happy and relieved about that. She's going to be spending the night and going home tomorrow.
And my grammy got her hair cut this past Saturday. Mind you, she hasn't gotten it cut in about 40 years aside from doing the occasional straightening herself. She got it cut from a good ways down her back to up around her ears. (Those of you who actually know me, think of when I got my hair cut a couple years ago and it's the same basic idea). It's very cute and naturally slightly curly, though, and looks good on her. It's funny because she said that the first thing she thought of when she saw it was that she looked like her older sister Mary. Then when my granddad saw it, he said it looked good, then commented about it looking like Mary. Then when my dad saw her later that day when he went over to clear their driveway, he also said it looked good and looked like Aunt Mary. And when I saw them that night when I went over for dinner, I didn't say anything aside from that it looked great until my grammy brought it up, but it was definitely the first thing I thought of. So we all had a good laugh about that.
And some things to pimp, since I haven't done that in a long time:
- "The Lifeboat Trilogy" by Claire Dobbin. It's an "X-Files" Skinner/Krycek fic. I have no idea when it's supposed to take place in the canon, just that it's after "Terma" (since Alex doesn't have his arm) and a friend just said that it's sometime after the end of the series, but considering the pairing, it's obviously an AU. Anyway, spoiler placement issues aside, it's a *very* good fic and if you either haven't watched the show or haven't watched it in a long time (like me, since I stopped for some reason after "Terma"), it's well-worth the read and it's not hard to understand.
- Corner of the World 48 I haven't actually gotten a chance to read it yet, but I know it's great none-the-less, and I feel that it - and
serafina20 - should be pimped as much as possible, IMO. Other parts can be found at the SSA.
- I found some books that I've fallen completely in love with. They are Finding Faith and Finding Peace by Andrew Barriger. I couldn't put them down and read them both in under a week. There's supposed to be a third one coming out soon with the same characters and I can't wait!
