My mother, after watching Brokeback Mountain the other night - "It was good - for a love story. But I don't really do love stories."
I had to dress up for work yesterday because afterwards I had to go straight to a booksigning/dinner for the university's library association. At one point, I went into the accounting office and our textbook manager was in there working on something. I said hi to him and asked how his weekend/vacation had been. He just stared at me for a moment or two before I replied, "Yes, I know - 'it's a girl!'." (I was wearing a skirt and nicely low-cut top. Normally, jeans and casual-but-nice shirt.) And Greg was like, "I wasn't going to say anything, but, yeah. You do look really nice, though."
And then when I walked in this morning, the first thing out of his mouth after "Hi," was, "You look worse today than you did yesterday." Which immediately got two of the ladies standing nearby to yell at him. Later on he came upstairs and apologized profusely, meaning that I didn't look horrible today, but just that I had looked really nice yesterday. I couldn't help but laugh as I replied that I had understood what he meant.
Greg's amusing - he's one of those types that can seem intimidating at first, but once you realize that he's rather snarky and kind of expects you to snark back, he's great.

*grin* Seriously, I travel a lot (as you probably know) and sometimes things are great and sometimes I wind up trying hard not to die in some ICU in a town I've never been in before. And I almost always have misgivings before I travel -- I just ignore 'em usually.
