I had a lot of fun with
eternalmusings over the weekend. We went to the National Zoo yesterday, which I always love doing and got to see a lot of cool animals (including the elephants - which is always a must-see in my book). And as we were walking around, we talked with
lunanne. And even though there were a lot of kids there, some of them were cute. One, upon not seeing a monkey - "Maybe he's not here today." Another, on seeing a displayed tracking collar for tigers - "They put collars on tigers so the dogs won't get them!"
We also watched I'm With Lucy (which I liked a lot, though someone *really* should've gone with David to the salon and made him not do it), Sliding Doors (which I still love - especially John Hannah), and some "Sentinel" eps - which appear to have hooked
eternalmusings.
Still think Joss is a guh jun duh hwoon dahn (real bastard), but I do admire his genius. How many people do you know that can write and direct a movie that stays true to what the fans are used to, and expect, and at the same time give the uninitiated a crash course in Joss 101 in the same film that's just shy of 2 hours?
I liked it better the second time and it felt more like "Firefly". The first time it felt a little off in the beginning, but that may've just been because I was still in the mode of "OMG! It's Sept 30th and I'm watching Serenity!"
It still hurts. And I'm still in denial. As soon as Serenity came out of the clouds after leaving Miranda, my heart started *pounding*, my legs went weak (and, boy am I glad that I didn't have to stand up then), and I started rocking back and forth slightly (which I do sometimes when I'm really distressed).
I think I'm gonna promise my second-born to the costume designer for Zoe's dress. (The first one being more than likely being offered to the LotR sound team.) It was just...wow.
I *LOVE LOVE LOVE* the shot when they're coming back from Miranda and the Alliance ships are on the left, Serenity's in the middle, and the Reaver ships are on the right and it's on that angle. That's just really cool.
And now I'm going to defer you to other people who've said really cool things about the movie better than I ever could've - like
wolfling.
And
psubrat and
crazywritinfool? What did Adam say to you guys? Do you remember? Because now I'm really curious. :-P
